10 Guard 1. Attac h guard to t he bracket by i nserti ng the rod and lifti ng up on the plunger ( A, Fig. 5). 2. Ther e are t wo detents t hat will hol d the guard i n pl ace. One is for turni ng and t he other i s for when you need the guard up and out of the way .

12 S peed C hange 1. Disco nnect the machine from the power sou rce! 2. Loos e n the l ocki ng handl e (A, Fig. 1 1). 3. Lift up on t he tensioni ng handle (B, Fig. 1 1) to rem ove tension from the poly v-belt . Y ou can now posit ion the belt i n the desired speed range.

15 Cove s 1. Use a spindl e gouge. W ith the fl ute of the tool at 90 degr ees to w or kpiec e, t ouch the center o f the cutti ng edge t o the workpi ece and rol l in t owards t he bot tom of the c o v e. Stop at the b ottom; attempti ng to go up the opposi te side m ay cause the t ool t o catch.

17 Face Plate or Chuck W hile fac eplat es are t he sim p l est, m ost r eliabl e m e t hod of hol ding a block of wood f or turni ng, chuck s c an also be used. A c huck i s not a requi re m ent but i s handy when w ork ing on more than one pi ece at a time.
