8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS In countr ies that hav e a warm and dr y climate there is a significant risk of fire. W e therefore fit cer tain mufflers with a spark arrestor mesh. Check whether the m uffler on your machine is fitted with this kind of mesh.

10 – English ASSEMBL Y Adjusting the harness Y ou should alwa ys use the harness with the machine to give maximum control ov er the machine and reduce the r isk of f atigue in your arms and back. 1 Put on the harness. 2 Hook the machine onto the harness suppor t hook.
English – 11 FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allo w remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any par t of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
12 – English FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the petrol and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the petrol to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture. Add the remaining amount of petrol.
English – 13 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Inspect the working area. Remove an y objects that could be thrown out. • Check the cutting attachment. Nev er use blades that are dull, crac ked or damaged. • Check that the machine is in perf ect wor king order .

English – 15 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES • Alwa ys wear hea vy-duty gloves when repairing the cutting attachment. This is extremely sharp and can easily cause cuts. • Store the machine out of reach of children. • Use only original spare par ts for repairs .
16 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 3 Grip the handle on the cutting unit and angle the cutting unit upwards . At an angle of 48 degrees there is a stop position. T o pass the stop position, pull out the lock b utton. 4 F old down the cutting unit against the shaft.
English – 17 MAINTENANCE Carb urettor Y our Jonsered product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce harmful exhaust fumes.
18 – English MAINTENANCE Cooling system T o keep the working temperature as low as possib le the machine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1 Cooling fins on the cylinder . 2 Cylinder cov er (directs cold air ov er the cylinder).
English – 19 MAINTENANCE Gear There are three grease nipples on the gearbo x. Use a grease gun to top up with grease. This should be carr ied out after appro ximately ev er y 20 working hours.
20 – English MAINTENANCE Maintenance sc hedule The f ollowing is a list of the maintenance that must be perf or med on the machine. Most of the items are descr ibed in the Maintenance section. The user must only carr y out the maintenance and service work descr ibed in this Operator’ s Manual.
