Example If you register network.com , only the e-mail from domain network.com or its sub-domain will be received and forwarded. ! Domain Name (User Function 91), is only used when setting up your fax machine as a gateway for relay fax.

| K onica F A X 993 0 32 Limitations and Suggestions • If you need a digital copy of a fax transmission for your records, send the fax to the destina tion and your e-mail address. Y our e- mail address will receive a digital copy (.TIFF format) of whatever you send.

| K onica F A X 993 0 34 Automatic Reception If your machine performs an automatic reception, but no messages (mail) are on the ser v er , no r ecor d of the session is made. Single Message If one message is on the ser ve r , your machine recei ves the message and prints it.

| T . 3 7Internet F AX User’s Guide 39 Domain Name Restrictions Y ou must r e gister the domain names that y our mac hine will communicate with (receive data from) when forwarding e-mail-to-fax. This is intended to prevent unauthorized access of the e-mail forwarding function.

T o use gate way service 1 (e-mail-to-K onicaF AX-to-G3 F AX), the mail server and the DNS server must be configured to forward e-mail to the your fax machine.

The DNS server configuration is not always used. Some mail servers are configured to process all mail addressed to hosts belonging to their domain as mail to themselves.

The display shows message “OPTION BO ARD ERR OR. ” An error may have occurred at the interface between the fax machine and the network card.
| K onica F A X 993 0 56 E-mail-to-F ax T roubleshooting I ha ve sent data using the f o r mat “ F AX=[tele phone number]@[domain name], but it has not been delivered to the Internet Fax. Y ou may hav e set the domain name (the part after @) incorrectly .
| T . 3 7Internet F AX User’s Guide 57 Y our f ax machine maintains a log of up to 50 communications. This log prevents repeat receptions of any messages that have already been read. How e ve r , if ther e are more than 50 messages on the server , you may experience errors.
| K onica F A X 993 0 58 ! The setting for this function always applies when using Internet F ax. IF AX Sender ID (User Function 89) is independent fro m Sender ID On/Off (User Function 23). If you are using your fax as a scanner , turn this setting off.
