2 - Power Mac G4 Zip Drive Opening the Computer W arning: Alwa ys turn off y our computer before opening it to a v oid damaging its internal components. 1 Place your computer on a clean, flat surf ace. 2 If you think y our computer is in sleep, press the po wer button on the front of the computer to wak e it.
Power Mac G4 Zip Drive - 3 W arning: If you see an y lights glowing on the main logic board, the computer has not been shut down. Close the side access panel and shut down the computer bef ore proceeding.
4 - Power Mac G4 Zip Drive 2 Remov e the two scre ws that hold the dr iv e carrier in place and push the carrier forw ard f ar enough that you can reach the cab les behind it. Note: You will feel some resistance as you push on the carrier. 3. Disconnect the ribbon and power cab les from the back of the CD/D VD drive .
Power Mac G4 Zip Drive - 5 7 Remov e the f our screws that mount the Zip drive to the carrier and slide the drive out of the carrier . Installing the Replacement Zip Driv e 1 Slide the replacement Zip drive into the lo wer ba y in the dr iv e carr ier .
6 - Power Mac G4 Zip Drive 5 Push the drive carrier the rest of the wa y into the computer . 6 Reinser t the two carrier mounting screws y ou remov ed earlier .
Power Mac G4 Zip Drive - 7 Closing the Computer 1 Raise the side access panel, lift the latch, and press the panel against the case until it snaps securely into place. 2 Reconnect all cables and restart your computer . W arning: Never turn on y our computer unless all of its internal and external parts are in place and it is closed.
