6 11 . Causes and Operator Prevention of Kic k- back: Kickbac k is a sudden reaction to a pinched, bound or misaligned saw b lade, causing an uncontrolled saw to lift up and out of the workpiece toward the oper ator.

10 Sighting F or straight cuts, align the A position on the front of the base with your cutting line . For 45 ° be vel cuts , align the B position with it. 11 T o remove the b lade, press the shaft lock so that the b lade cannot re volv e and use the wrench to loosen the hex bolt counterclockwise . Then remov e the hex bolt, outer flange and blade . T o install the blade, f ollow the remov al procedure in rev erse.
12 T o remove the he x wrench, push the shor ter side of it out with your finger . Then remove the he x wrench. T o store the hex wrench, inser t the longer side of it into the le ver . Then push the shor ter side of it down. OPERA TION CA UTION: • Be sure to mov e the tool forw ard in a straight line gently .
13 Rip fence (Guide rule) The handy rip fence allows y ou to do extr a-accurate straight cuts. Simply slide the rip fence up sn ugly against the side of the workpiece and secure it in position with the screw on the front of the base. It also mak es repeated cuts of uniform width possible .
14 Replacing carbon brushes Remov e and check the carbon brushes regularly . Replace when they we ar down to the limit mark. Keep the carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders. Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the same time. Use only iden- tical carbon brushes.
