10 5. If you lea ve the battery car tridge in the charger after the charging cycle is complete, the charger will s witch into its “ trickle charge (maintenance charge) ” mode which will last appro ximately 24 hours. 6. After charging, unplug the charger from the power source.
11 • Check the sound of cooling f an, vent on the charger and batter y , which can be sometime clogged with dust. • The cooling system is in order although no sound of cooling fa n comes out, if the yellow w ar ning light will not flash. • Alwa ys keep clean the v ent on charger and batter y f or cooling.
12 Blade guard When lowering the handle, the b lade guard rises automati- cally . The guard is spring loaded so it retur ns to its original position when the cut is completed and the handle is raised. NEVER DEFEA T OR REMOVE THE BLADE GU ARD OR THE SPRING WHICH A TT A CHES T O THE GUARD .
13 P ositioning kerf board This tool is provided with the k erf boards in the tur n base to minimize tearing on the e xit side of a cut. The kerf boards are f actor y adjusted so that the saw b lade does not contact the kerf boards . Before use , adjust the kerf boards as fo llows: First, remov e the batter y car tridge.
14 Adjusting the miter angle Loosen the grip by turning counterclockwise. T ur n the turn base while pressing down the loc k lev er . When you hav e mov ed the grip to the position where the pointer points to the desired angle on the miter scale, securely tighten the grip clockwise .
15 • Do not pull the s witch tr igger hard without pressing in the lock-off b utton. This can cause switch breakage . T o prev ent the switch trigger from being accidentally pulled, a lock-off b utton is provided. T o star t the tool, press in the lock- off button and pull the s witch trigger .
16 Socket wrenc h storage The sock et wrench is stored as shown in the figure. When using the sock et wrench, pull it out of the wrench holder . After using the sock et wrench, retur n it to the wrench holder .
17 Press the shaft lock to loc k the spindle and use the socket wrench to loosen the he x bolt clockwise. Then remo ve the he x bolt, outer flange and blade. T o install the blade, mount it carefully onto the spindle , mak- ing sure that the direction of the arrow on the surf ace of the blade matches the direction of the arro w on the blade case.
18 Dust bag The use of the dust bag makes cutting operations clean and dust collection easy . T o attach the dust bag, fit it onto the dust nozzle. When the dust bag is about half full, remov e the dust bag from the tool and pull the f astener out.
19 V ertical vise The vertical vise can be installed in two positions on either the left or right side of the guide fence or the holder assemb ly (optional accessor y). Insert the vise rod into the hole in the guide f ence or the holder assembly and tighten the screw to secure the vise rod.
20 CA UTION: • Grip the workpiece only when the projection is at the topmost position. F ailure to do so may result in insufficient securing of the workpiece. This could cause the workpiece to be thrown, cause damage to the b lade or cause the loss of control, which can result in PERSONAL INJUR Y .
21 • Gently press down the handle to perf or m the cut. If the handle is pressed down with f orce or if lateral fo rce is applied, the blade will vibr ate and leave a mark (saw mark) in the workpiece and the precision of the cut will be impaired. 1.
22 • When pressing the handle down, apply pressure parallel to the blade . If the pressure is not parallel to the blade during a cut, the angle of the blade might be shifted and the precision of the cut will be impaired.
23 There are crown and co ve molding joints which are made to fit “ Inside ” 90 ° corners ((1) and (2) in Fig. A) and “ Outside ” 90 ° corners ((3) and (4) in Fig. A). Measuring Measure the wall length and adjust workpiece on tab le to cut wall contact edge to desired length.

Cutting repetitive lengths When cutting se veral pieces of stoc k to the same length, ranging from 220 mm (8-5/8 ” ) to 365 mm (14-3/8 ” ), use of the set plate (optional accessor y) will f acilitate more efficient operation. Install the set plate on the holder (optional accessor y) as sho wn in the figure.

Adjusting the cutting angle This tool is carefully adjusted and aligned at the fa ctor y , but rough handling ma y have aff ected the alignment. If your tool is not aligned properly , perform the follo wing: 1.

Tu r n t h e 0 ° bev el angle adjusting bolt (lower bolt) on the right side of the ar m two or three re volutions counterclockwise to tilt the b lade to the ri ght.
30 Replacing carbon brushes Remov e and check the carbon brushes regularly . Replace when they we ar down to the limit mark. Keep the carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders. Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the same time. Use only iden- tical carbon brushes.
