7 8. Hold the chain saw with both hands when switching it on and usi ng it. Hold the rear handle with your right hand and the front handle with your left. Hold the handles firmly w ith your thumbs. The bar and the chain mu st not be in contact w ith any objects w hen the saw is switched on .
8 − Run-down brake: The chain saw is equipped w ith an run down brake which brings the saw chai n to an im mediate stop when the ON/OF F switch is released. This prevents the saw chain from running on when switched of f, and thus presenting a ha zard.

10 ASSEMBL Y CAUTION : • Always be sure th at the tool i s switched of f and unplugged before carrying out any work on the tool. Removing or installing saw chain CAUTION : • Always wear glov es when installing or removing the saw chain. T o remove the saw chain, perform the follow ing steps: 1.
11 Adjusting saw chain tension The saw chain may become loose after many hours of use. From time to time check the saw chain tension before use. 1. Press and fully open the lev er until it clicks. T urn it counterclockw ise a little to loosen sprocket cover lightly .
12 010373 NOTE: • Do not turn on and off too often w ithin a short time (five seconds or less). The temperatu re inside the tool will rise and may cause the tool damage. The time varies by atm osphere temperature and o ther conditions. T o prevent the sw itch trigger from being a ccidentally pulled, a lock-of f button is prov ided.

16 Only maintenance wo rk described in this instru ction manual may be performed by the user . Any other work must be carried out by MAKIT A a uthorized serv ice centers. Cleaning the chain saw Clean the saw regularly with a clean rag. The handles, in particula r , must be kept free of oil.
17 006927 − Guide the fil e as show n in the figure. − The file can be guided more easily if a fi le holder (optional accessory ) is employed. The file h older has markings for the correct sharpening angle of 30 ° (align the markings p arallel to the saw chain ) and limits the de pth of penetration ( to 4/5 of the file diameter).
18 CAUTION : • A worn sprocket damages a new saw chain. Hav e the sprocket rep laced in this ca se. Always fit a new locking ring w hen replacing the sprocket. Maintaining the chain and run-dow n brakes The braking syste ms are very important sa fety features.
