9- ENG A10260 T o Install Handle The wheels and handle do not provide adequate clearance, stability , or support for pulling the unit up and down stairs or steps. The unit must be lifted or pushed up a ramp. Do not lift the unit by the manifold assembly , the unit could be damaged.
10- ENG A10260 Assemble Rubber Feet 1. Attach rubber feet with the screws, washers, and nuts provided as shown. 2. Tighten securely . T o Assemble Wheels It will be necessary to brace or support one side of the unit when installing the wheels because the compressor will have a tendency to tip.
11- ENG A10260 T o Add Oil T o Pump Compressors are shipped without oil. A small amount of oil may be present in the pump upon receipt of the air compressor . This is due to plant testing and does not mean the pump contains oil. Do not attempt to operate this air compressor without first adding oil to the crankcase.
12- ENG A10260 GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS Risk of Electrical Shock. In the event of a short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current.
13- ENG A10260 120/240 Dual V oltage Motor This model has a dual voltage motor , 120 and 240 volt. It is wired for 120 volt but can be converted to 240 volt operation. Instructions for connecting the motor for operation at 240 volt can be found printed on the label attached to the side of the motor .
14- ENG A10260 Description of Operation Become familiar with these controls before operating the unit. On/Aut o/Off Lever : T ur n this switch to " On/A uto" to provi de automat ic power to the pressur e switch and " Off" to remove power at the end of each use.
15- ENG A10260 Drain V alve: The drain valve is located at the base of the air tank and is used to drain condensation at the end of each use. Check V alve: When the air compressor is operating, the check valve is "open", allowing compressed air to enter the air tank.
16- ENG A10260 How to Start: 1. T urn the On/Auto/Off lever to "On/Auto" and allow tank pressur e to build. Motor will stop when tank pressure reaches "cut-out" pressure. 2. Pull the regulator knob out and tur n clockwise to increase pressure.

18- ENG A10260 T o Drain T ank NOTE: Operation of the air compressor will cause condensation to build up in the air tank. Always drain tank on a washable surface or in a suitable container to prevent damaging or staining surfaces. 1. Set the On/Auto/Off lever to "Off".
19- ENG A10260 T o Replace Belt Serious injury or damage may occur if parts of the body or loose items get caught in moving parts. Never operate the unit with the belt guard removed. The belt guard should be removed only when the compressor is unplugged.
20- ENG A10260 Air Compressor Pump Intake and Exhaust V alves Once a year have a T rained Service T echnician check the air compressor pump intake and exhaust valves.
21- ENG A10260 SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS T o Replace or Clean Check V alve 1. Release all air pressure from air tank. See "T o Drain T ank" in the "Maintenance" section. 2. Unplug air compressor . 3. Using an adjustable wrench loosen outlet tube nut at air tank and pump.
22- ENG A10260 T o Replace Regulator 1. Release all air pressur e from air tank. See "T o Drain T ank" in the "Maintenance" section. 2. Set the On/Auto/Off lever to "Off" and unplug unit. 3. Using an adjustable wrench remove the outlet pressure gauge and quick connect from the regulator .
23- ENG A10260 STORAGE Before you store the air compressor , make sure you do the following: 1. Review the "Maintenance" section on the preceding pages and perform scheduled maintenance as necessary . 2. Set the On/Auto/Off lever to " Off" and unplug unit.
24- ENG A10260 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION Pressur e switch does not shut off motor when compressor reaches "cut- out" pressur e. Pressur e switch "cut-out" too high. Move On/Auto/Off lever to the " Off" position, if the unit does not shut off contact a T rained Service T echnician.
25- ENG A10260 PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION Compressor is not supplying enough air to operate accessories. Prolonged excessive use of air . Compressor is not large enough for air requirement. Hole in hose. Check valve restricted. Air leaks. Restricted air intake filter .
26- ENG A10260 PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION Motor will not run. Fuse blown, circuit breaker tripped. 1. Check fuse box for blown fuse and replace as necessary . Reset circuit breaker . Do not use a fuse or circuit breaker with higher rating than that specified for your particular branch circuit.
27- ENG A10260 PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION Knocking Noise. Possible defect in safety valve. Operate safety valve manually by pulling on ring. If valve still leaks, it should be replaced. Loose pulley . Tighten pulley set screw , see Parts manual for torque specifications.
