Chapter 2 - Hardware Installation 2-6 Mounting the MGC+ 100 on a 23” Rack The MGC+100 can be mounted to a 23” rack using the two mounting plates that are pre-inst alled on the uni t. 1. Make sure th at the MCU is turned OFF and it is disconnected from the AC power .
MGC+ Hardware and Installation Manual 2-7 8. Unscrew both M CU the side screws an d remove both side plat es. 9. From the inside of t he MGC-100, screw the mounting brackets to both sides of the MCU , securing the sc rews in the mounted b racket.
Chapter 2 - Hardware Installation 2-8 10. Place the MCU in a 23” rack and while supportin g it, screw the mounting brackets to the rack securing it wi th bo lts and self -l ock in g nu ts. Mounting the MGC+ 100 on a 19” Rack The MGC+100 can be mounted in a 19” rack using th e mounting kit (P /N- KIT2026A).

Slide the MPI-4 /8 Network Int erfa ce module into a free slot in t he MGC front panel. 2. Push the MPI-4/8 Network Interface module firmly int o the Backplane, making sure it is p rop erly seate d in its slot.

Chapter 2 - Hardware Installation 2-24 6. Place the MPI box with its four 160-pi n connectors facing the MCU front panel between the two mounting bracket s. Secure it with the screws supplied with th e MPI Box. 7. If the MCU is standalon e, reassemble the side pan els.

Chapter 2 - Hardware Installation 2-28 Mounting the MGC+50 on a Rack The MGC+50 ca n be mounted in a 19” rack using tw o mounting plates (Kit 2012A). The side plates a re u sua lly mo unted wh en shi pped, but i f no t, fol low the directions bel ow to install the mounted plates on the MGC+50 and t hen mount the MGC+50 on the 19” rack.
MGC+ Hardware and Installation Manual 2-29 6. Once the, Server panel, Main Con t rol Modu le, the power supply module and the boards are removed, unscrew th e side screws from inside the MGC+50, and then remove the plate from both MGC+50 sides.

Chapter 2 - Hardware Installation 2-38 T o install the MPI-4/8 Ne twork Interface Module: 1. Slide the MPI-8 Network Interface mo dule i nto a free slot in the MCU front panel. 2. Push the MPI-8 Network Interface module firmly in to the Backplane, making sure it is p rop erly seate d in its slot.

Connect the other end of the cable to B (Ports 5-8) 160-pi n connector of the MPI Box. By do ing this procedure we have utilized the MPI Box as a MPI-4 /8.

MGC+ Hardware and Installation Manual 4-7 ReadiManager IAM The ReadiManager IAM refers to the Polycom® MGC+ that houses the Integrated Application Module (IAM). The ReadiManager provides the hardware platform to run the R eadiManager ™ software application.
Chapter 4 - Hardware Description 4-8 Control Unit The Main Cont rol Unit performs the functions of con ference setup, conference termination, and resource all ocation in both the MGC+1 00 and the MGC+50. The Main Control Modu le has an Intel-based Pentium processor , a hard disk drive and 256 MB of memory .
MGC+ Hardware and Installation Manual 4-9 The Main Contro l Module inc l udes se veral connectors. These are connected to ports on the c hassis. T wo types of connectors on the rea r panel provide connections from the MGC + to various external systems.
Chapter 4 - Hardware Description 4-10 Backplane The Backplane is base d on the “universal sl ot” concept, where any functional card can be inserte d in any functiona l sl ot. Therefore, dif ferent configurations are formed base d on the users’ port cap acity and functio nality requirements.
MGC+ Hardware and Installation Manual 4-11 In the MGC+50, the front of the Backplan e con tains eight slots for Fun ctional Modules and additional sl ot (Slot A) for the Main Control Module.The back of the Backplane also c ontains 7 slots for I/O cards and 1 slot fo r the Main Control Module.
Chapter 4 - Hardware Description 4-12 Information High way The Information Hig hway is a high capac ity TDM-type bus. It is u sed by both the MGC+100 and the MGC+50.
MGC+ Hardware and Installation Manual 4-13 Power Supply Module Both MGC+ units (M GC+100 and MGC+5 0) operate at 100-240 vol ts AC 50/60 Hz. Power Module in the MGC+100 Three redundant power supplies provi de back up for the system to en sure multipoint service is not interrupted as a result of any single p ower supply failure.
Chapter 4 - Hardware Description 4-14 Power Module in the MGC+50 In the MGC+50, the Power S upply Module is not ho t swappable. The power supply automatica lly senses the AC input voltage. The capacities of the power supply module ar e shown in T able 4-3 , “MGC+50 Power supply module capacit y ”.
