4 - ENG A11894 WARNING: Risk of Bursting Air T ank: The following conditions could lead to a weakening of the tank, and result in a violent tank explosion and could cause property damage or serious injury .
5 - ENG A11894 WARNING: Risk to Br eathing WARNING: Risk of Electrical Shock HAZARD HAZARD Y our air compressor is powered by electricity . Like any other electrically powered device, If it is not used properly it may cause electric shock. Repairs attempted by unqualified personnel can result in serious injury or death by electr ocution.
6 - ENG A11894 WARNING: Risk of Burns T ouching exposed metal such as the compressor head or outlet tubes, can result in serious burns. Never touch any exposed metal parts on compressor during or immediately after operation. Compressor will r emain hot for several minutes after operation.
7 - ENG A11894 Review and unde rstand a ll instr uctions and warnin gs in th is manual . Become familiar with th e operat ion and contr ols of the air compr essor . Keep op erating area clear o f all per sons, pets, a nd obsta cles. Keep ch ildr en away from the air compr essor at all t imes .
8 - ENG A11894 GLOSSAR Y DUTY CYCLE Accessories for this unit are available at the stor e the unit was purchased. ACCESSORIES Become familiar with these terms before operating the unit. CFM : Cubic feet per minute. SCFM: Standard cubic feet per minute; a unit of measure of air delivery .
9 - ENG A11894 ASSEMBL Y Unpacking 1. Remove unit from carton and discar d all packaging. 2. Make sure the outlet being used has the same configuration as the grounded plug. DO NOT USE AN ADAPTER. See illustration. 3. Inspect the plug and cord befor e each use.
10 - ENG A11894 Extension Cords Using extension cords is not recommended. The use of extension cords will cause voltage to dr op resulting in power loss to the motor and overheating. Instead of using an extension cord, increase the working r each of the air hose by attaching another length of hose to its end.
11 - ENG A11894 Outlet Pressur e Gauge: The outlet pressur e gauge indicates the air pressur e available at the outlet side of the regulator . This pressur e is controlled by the r egulator and is always less than or equal to the tank pressur e. Regulator: Controls the air pressur e shown on the outlet pressur e gauge.
12 - ENG A11894 2. Plug the power cord into the correct branch cir cuit receptacle. (Refer to "V oltage and Circuit Protection" paragraph in the "Installation" section of this manual.
13 - ENG A11894 How to Start: 1. Set the On/Off switch to ON (I) and allow tank pressur e to build. Motor will stop when tank pressur e reaches "cut-out" pr essure. 2. Pull the regulator knob out and turn clockwise to increase pressur e. When the desired pressur e is reached push knob in to lock in place.
14 - ENG A11894 T o Drain T ank 1. Set the On/Off switch to OFF (O). 2. Pull the regulator knob out and turn counterclockwise to set the outlet pressur e to zero. 3. Remove the air tool or accessory . 4. Pull ring on safety valve allowing air to bleed from the tank until tank pressur e is approximately 20 psi.
15 - ENG A11894 5. Make sure the valve disc moves freely inside the check valve and the spring holds the disc in the upper , closed position. The check valve may be cleaned with a solvent, such as paint and varnish remover . 6. Apply sealant to the check valve threads.
16 - ENG A11894 STORAGE Before you stor e the air compressor , make sure you do the following: 1. Review the "Maintenance" section on the preceding pages and perform scheduled maintenance as necessary . 2. Set the On/Off switch to OFF (O) and unplug unit.
17 - ENG A11894 TROUBLESHOOTING Performing r epairs may expose voltage sources, moving parts or compressed air sources. Personal injury may occur . Prior to attempting any repairs, unplug the air compressor and bleed of f all air tank air pressur e.
18 - ENG A11894 Regulator will not shut off air outlet. Damaged r egulator Replace PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION It is normal for "some" pressur e dr op to occur .
19 - ENG A11894 SERVICE REPLACEMENT P ARTS When servicing use only identical replacement parts.
