3 UNIT / MAINTENANCE SAFETY S Disc onnect the spark plug before perform- ing mai ntenance except carbur etor adj ust- ments. S Look for and replace dam aged or l oose parts before each use. Look for and repair fuel leaks before use. Keep in good w orking condition.
4 EDGER SAFETY W ARNING: Inspec t the area to be edged before each use. R emove objects (rocks, broken glass, nails, wir e, e tc.) which can be thrown by t he blade or can w rap around the shaft. S Blade r otates momentari ly after the trigger is r eleased.

9 HOW T O STO P YOUR UNIT S T o stop the engine, m ove the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. S If engine does not s top, move choke l ever to FU LL CHOKE posi tion. ON/OFF Switch HOW T O ST ART YOUR UNIT W ARNING: Avoid any contac t with the muffler .
10 ST AR TING A FLOOD ED EN GINE Flooded engines c an be started by placi ng the chok e lever in the OFF CHOKE position; then, pull the rope to c lear the engine of ex - cess fuel. Thi s could requir e pu lling the starter handle many tim es depending on how badl y the unit i s flooded.
11 S T ap the bottom of the tr immer head li ghtly on the ground one time. Approx imately 2 i nches (5 cm) of line will b e a d va nce d with e a ch ta p. Always tap the trim mer head on a gr assy area. T apping on surfaces such as c oncrete or as phalt c an cause exc essive wear to the trim mer head.
12 MAINTENANCE W ARNING: Di sconnect t he spark plug before per forming mai ntenance except for c arburetor adjustm ents. HELPFUL TIP IMPO RT ANT : Have all repair s other than the r ec- ommended m aintenance descri bed in the instruction manual performed by an authorized s ervice dealer .
