4 EDGER SAFETY WAR NI N G: Ins pec t the ar ea to be edged before each us e. Remov e objec ts (roc k s , brok en glas s, nails , w ire, etc .) whic h can be thr own by t he blade or c an w rap around the s haft. S Blade rotates momentarily after the trigger is r eleased.
5 Probos c is nose S Us e only s pec ified blade and mak e sur e it is properly ins talled and s ec urely fas tened. S Cut from y our right to y our left. 9 ON/OF F Switch HOW TO ST ART YOUR UN IT WAR NI N G: Avoid any c ontac t w ith the muffler . A hot muffler can c aus e serious burns . HE LPFUL TIP If y our engine st ill does not st art after follow ing thes e inst ruc tions, please c all 1 - - 800 - - 554 - - 6723.
10 If the unit s till does n’t s tart, refer t o TROUBLESHOOTING T ABLE or call 1-800-554- 6723. OPERA TI NG THE COUPLER This model is equipped wit h a coupler which enables optional attac hments to be installed. The optional attac hments are: MOD EL : Edger PPB 1000E .
11 Alway s release t he t hrottle tr igger and allow the engine to return to idle s peed when not cut ting. T o s top engine: S Releas e the thr ottle trigger.
12 SWEEPING - - The fanning ac tion of the rotat- ing line c an be us ed to blow aw ay loos e debris from an area. Keep the line parallel to and above t he area s urfac e and swing the tool from s ide to s ide. Sw eeping MAINT ENANCE WAR NI N G: D is connec t the spark plug before perfor ming maintenance exc ept for car buretor adjus tments.
13 SERVIC E AND ADJUSTMENTS REPLACING THE LINE 1. Remov e s pool by fir mly pulling on tap button. 2. Clean entire s ur face of hub and s pool. 3 . Replac e wi th a pre-w ound s pool , or c ut tw o lengths of 12 -1/2 feet (3.8 mete rs ) of 0.080 ″ (2 mm) diameter Poulan PR O br and line.
14 STORAGE WAR NI N G: P erform the follow ing st eps af ter eac h us e: S Allow engine to c ool befor e st oring or trans - porting. S Store unit and fuel in a w ell v entilated area where fuel v apors cannot r eac h s par ks or open f lames from w ater heaters , elec tric motors or s w itc hes, fur nac es, etc .
