4 INS TAL L ATIO N INSTALLING A BATTERY Your i nterco m system uses one 9-vo lt batt ery fo r power. For the best perf ormance and long est li fe, we recomm end an al kaline b atter y, such as Ra- dioShack Cat. No. 23-5 53. Caution: Use onl y a f resh batt ery of the r equired size and re commended type.

6 CONNECTING THE STAT IONS Choose the most conve nient locat ions fo r t he mas- ter an d remote s tations. You can pl ace the m on a desk or shel f, or mount them on a wall . Plug t he connec tor on one end of the supplied 66 - foot- long c able int o the rem ote stat ion’s jack.
7 Notes: • Be sure to r oute t he cable s o it will not b e pinched by do ors or step ped on. Use the supp lied moun ting stapl es to hol e the cable i n place. S i mpl y positi on the cable between the prongs of eac h stapl e you need, then gently tap the staple wi th a hammer unt il the s taple’ s gray c oating touch es the wall.
8 Wall Mounting For wall mount ing, you need two flat-h ead scre ws (not suppl ied) with heads that fit into the keyhol e slots on t he bot tom of the base. Dr ill two hol e s 2 5 / 8 inches (67 mm) apart. Then t hread a screw int o each hole , letti ng the heads ex- tend ab out 5 / 32 i n c h ( 4 m m ) f r o m the w all.
9 OPE RATION USING THE MASTER ST ATION To send a loud t one to the r emote s tation, be sur e VOL UME is set t o OFF . Then press PUSH T O T A LK . To talk from the mast er station , rotate VOLUME to the lef t un til it cli cks , then hol d down PUSH T O T AL K and speak i n a nor mal voic e.
10 To sa ve batte ry powe r, se t VOLUME to OFF when you f inish using the intercom sys tem. To monitor activ ity ar ound the remot e stat ion , rotate VOL UME to the le ft u nt il i t c lic k s. A d ju st VO LUME as necessar y to h ear sound s thro ugh your master sta- tion’ s speaker .
11 To talk fro m the re mote stat ion, sp eak in a normal voice. Liste n to hear the resp onse from t he master stati on. Notes : • The master stati on must be turne d on for th e remote st ation to work. • Do no t press CALL w hi l e tal kin g or li sten ing to the mas t er s tation.
