4 GENERAL SAFETY RULES SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES Hold power tools by ins ulated grippi ng surf aces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord . Contact with a “live” wire will also make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator .

9 FEA TURES KNOW YOUR RECIPROCA TING SAW See Figure 1. The safe use of this product requir es an understanding of the information on the tool and in this operator’ s manual as wel l as a kn owle dge of th e pr oje ct you are atte mpti ng. Befo re use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules.
10 OPERA TION WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with your tool to make you careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict sever e injury . WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating tools.
11 CAUTION: If at any point during the char ging process none of the LEDs are lit, remove the battery pack from the charger to avoid damaging the product. DO NOT insert ano ther bat tery . Return the char ger and battery to your nearest service center for service or replacement.

14 PLUNGE CUTTING See Figure 10. WARNING: T o avoid loss of control, broken blades, or dam- age to the material being cut, always use extr eme caution when making plunge cuts. It is not rec- ommended to plunge cut materials other than wood. Mark the line of cut clearly on the workpiece.
15 Fig. 11 ® OPERA TION MET AL CUTTING See Figure 11. Many kinds of metals can be cut with the saw . Be careful not to twist or bend the blades. Do not force. If the blade chatters or vibrates excessively , use a finer -tooth metal- cutting blade. If blade heats excessively , use lower speed.
