2 3 GENERAL SAFETY RULES WARNING! Read all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may r esult in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury . The term “power tool” in all of the warn- ings listed below refers to your mains-operated (cor ded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
4 5 n Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a “live” wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator.
4 5 Some of the following symbols may be used on this tool. Please study them and learn their meaning. Proper interpreta- tion of these symbols will allow you to operate the tool better and safer .
6 7 SYMBOLS SERVICE Servicing r equires extreme car e and knowledge and should be performed only by a qualified service technician. For service we suggest you return the product to the near est AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER for repair . When servic- ing, use only identical replacement parts.
6 7 EXTENSION CORDS When using a power tool at a considerable distance from a power sour ce, be sure to use an extension cord that has the capacity to handle the current the tool will draw . An undersized cord will cause a dr op in line voltage, r esulting in overheating and loss of power .

10 11 INST ALLING BITS See Figure 3 - 4. n Unplug the drill. n Open or close the chuck jaws to a point where the open- ing is slightly larger than the bit size you intend to use. Also, raise the front of the drill slightly to keep the bit from falling out of the chuck jaws.

NOTE: Rotate the chuck body in the direction of the ar- row marked UNLOCK to loosen the chuck jaws.
12 13 OPERA TION LEVEL Fig. 6 LEVEL Fig. 7 DRILLING See Figure 6 - 7. Levels are located on the top and end of the motor housing to help keep the drill bit level during use. n Depress and release the switch trigger to be sure the drill is in the OFF position before connecting it to a power supply.
12 13 WARNING: When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazar d or cause product damage. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust.
14 15 MAINTENANCE CHUCK REMOV AL See Figures 8 - 9. The chuck may be removed and r eplaced with a new one. n Unplug the drill. n Insert a 5/16 in. or larger hex key into the chuck of the drill and tighten the chuck jaws securely. n Tap sharply with a mallet in a counterclockwis e direction.
