Then plug the other end into the modular jack on the left side of the machine. Handset 1. Insert the two tabs on the document tray into the slot on the top of your machine.

We recommend you use an alkaline battery because it lasts longer than a conventional battery.

Chapter Four T HE F AX M ACHINE In this chapter , you will learn how to send and receive fax documents, how to use the four Reception Modes, and the V oice Request feature. Sending a Fax Acceptable Documents NOTE : For multiple sheets, all pages of the document must be the same size and paper type.

4 .12 C HAPTER F OUR : T HE F AX M ACHINE 4 T HE F AX M ACHINE Using an Extension T elephone (SF3000 only) An extension telephone must be connected to the back of the SF3000, so that it can transfer the incoming fax call to the fax machine.
C HAPTER F OUR : T HE F AX M ACHINE 4 .13 T HE F AX M ACHINE If you canÕt seem to alert the other person, it may be because the remote fax machine doesnÕt have the V oice Request feature. A Voice Request signal is stored and then sent to the remote fax machine after the document has been sent or received.

It can be used to redial the number last called or it can be used to insert a pause in a number when you are setting up a One-T ouch or Speed Dial number . S PECIAL F EA TURES 7 .8 C HAPTER S EVEN : S PECIAL F EA TURES 7 ¥ AUTOMA TIC REDUCTION _ When receiving or copying a document as long as or longer than that installed in your machine, the machine can reduce the data in a document to fit your recor ding paper size.
¥ INK SA VE _ Y ou can save ink when making a copy with this feature. Choose OFF to turn off this featur e. Choose MED to use 25% less ink. Choose MAX to use 50% less ink. ¥ MESSAGE CONFIRMA TION REPOR T _ A confirmation report shows whether the transmission was successful or not, how many pages were sent, etc.
