6 Avaya V ideo Communications Systems User Guid e Microphone An Avaya system inclu des a de vice with one or more microphones for audio input during a call. Depending o n the model and o ptional pe ripherals purchased, the system may have one or more of the following devices.
Avaya V ideo Communication s Systems User Guide 7 Codec The Ava ya codec compresses outgoing video an d au dio content and data, transmit s this information to the far en d of a call, and de compresses inco ming in formatio n. Y ou should not need to interact with the codec once it has been prop erly inst alled in your environment.
8 Avaya V ideo Communications Systems User Guid e Remote Control The Avay a remote control provides wireless control of all Avaya video communications system function s an d en a ble s you to navig at e the user interface, place and receive calls, and control cameras connecte d to the system.
Avaya V ideo Communication s Systems User Guide 9 Navigating the User Interface When your Av aya system is idle, a screen sa ver appears on the display , or the screen is black. An incoming call o r pressing any button on the remote control automatically invokes the system.
10 Avaya V ideo Communications Systems User Guid e Icon Condition Video Indicates the number of video calls in progre ss. Each orange circle that appears to the right of the video icon repr esents a video call in progress. V oice Indicates the number of voice calls in progress.

Fr om the System Menu you can do the following: • View selected configuration and status in formation about your Avaya system in the System Information pages.

If the image flickers, colors appear unb alan ced, or the image appears too dark, you may ne ed to adjust the room lighting or camera settings.

18 Avaya V ideo Communications Systems User Guid e Placing a Call from the Directory The directory stores a list of names and numbers from which you can place calls. The directory includes three subdire ctories: the loca l, corporate, and meetings directories.

22 Avaya V ideo Communications Systems User Guid e Answering or Rejecting a Call Y ou can configure your system to automatically answer incoming calls by setting preference s in User Preferences : Calls as follows: • Auto Answe r —If set to Enabled , the system automatically answers the first incoming call.
Avaya V ideo Communication s Systems User Guide 23 Enabling Do Not Disturb During Calls If you receive an incoming call while you are in another call and Auto Answer Multiway Call is set to Disabled , you can choo se Do Not D isturb which ignores the incoming call and prevent s any other calls from interrupting for the duration of the call.

Y ou can also manage audio o utput and video images, control cameras, select input to appe ar in a display , and initiate a presen tation.

In the upper-left corne r of the far video image, the caller ID (phone number or IP address) of the fa r end system appears.

Use the me ter to visually verify that the transmit level peaks in the desired -28 to -22 dB range.
