INTRODUCTION 1 The Pathf inder® 6057 printer prin ts, scans b ar codes, c ollects dat a, and communicate s with other de vices. The printer operates on a Microsoft® Windows-based CE platform. Note: Before you be gin, review the safety informati on in the Regul atory Compl iance do cument included wi th your printe r.
To Access the Start Menu , t ouch the Em erald key. Reading the Task Bar The Task Ba r has the f ollowing indica tors: Icon Description Wired/Wireless Connection Wireless Signal Strength Battery Statu.

Setting the Time Zone 1. Touch the Emerald key to acce ss the Start Men u, select Sett ings, Control Pa nel, and Date/Time Properties. 2. Touch the Time Zone tab.

Importing/Exporting Asset Tracking Files Use Import to retrieve an asset t racking ba ckup file (. XML extens ion) from your PC or server. Use Export to create a back up file ( 2-4 System Administr ator’s Guide Asset Tracking Labe l .XML extensio n) of the asset tracking info rmation.
There are sev eral ways to “wake up” th e printer: touch the display (first touch “wakes up” th e printer; tou ch the display again to perf orm the action shown on the display, for example, OK .) This is recommended for User or System Idle mode.
3. Select the Power Scheme to change: Battery Power or AC Power. AC Power is used when the printer is con nected to the 6054 Network Control Mod ule with the 6055 Docking Module. 4. Select the User Idle time. In User Idle time, the displa y goes dim after the sp ecified amount of user ina ctivity time .

Using the System Lockdown Option The System Lockdow n option passwo rd protects a ccess to the Sta rt Menu or any un specifie d applications . The Syste m Administra tor selects whic h applications are accessi ble when the system is lo cked. To make an app lication acc essible, add i t to the list .
Locking the USB Ports The printer c ontains two USB ports. T he smaller USB port is th e Device Port , which is us ed to connect t he printer to a PC. Th e larger po rt is the Ho st Port, which is us ed to trans fer data wi th a flash drive .

Testing the Speaker 1. Touch the Emerald key to acce ss the Start Men u, select Settings , Control Panel , and Speaker Test . 2. Touch Run Test . While the test is pe rformed, you hear a tone sounded at each frequen cy (200 Hz – 6400 Hz). The freq uencies are displayed for each tone as they are played.
Viewing the Printer’s Software Version 1. To view info rmation about the pri nter including API versi on, print engin e firmware version, etc. touch t he Home key an d then Select About . 2. You see the About window. Use you r finger to scroll th rough the informatio n.
Bootloader & Factory Default Using the Control Panel The boot opti on within the printer’s control panel allo ws you to perform one of three diffe rent functions. Reset – Interrupts the CPU and rebo ots the printer (s oft reset). Reset to Bootload er – Reboots the printe r and pauses at the boo tloader screen.

USING BLUET OOTH 4 Bluetooth ® is a way to wirelessly communicate betw een devices. Your device must be Bluetooth ® enab led (contain a Bluetooth chip) to use Blueto oth technology. The Bluetoot h- enabled print er has a line-of-sight ra nge of approximate ly 3,280 feet (1 km).

Accessing Printe r Diagnostics 1. Touch the Home key and then sele ct Printer Diag . 2. Decide which of th e following tes ts to perform: For Machine Totals, see “ Checking Machine To tals ” for more information. For Diagnost ic Labels, see “ Prin ting Diagnostic La bels ” for more information.

Label with voids Select: The follow ing label prints: Gray Scale Label The gray scale test checks th e uniformity of the printi ng. The printed sa mple should be unif ormly gray acro ss the supply. If you see voids, especially on the edges, ke ep the sample and call Service.
Checking the Sto ck Registration If you Calibrate Stock , there is no need to calibrate the senso r. 1. Load the supp ly for non-peel mode as shown below. 2. Select Stock Regis tration from th e Printer Diagnostics window. 3. Select the sens or to calibrate (eit her Black Mark or On-De mand).
6. For on-demand supp lies, make sure you calibrate ov er paper – lay the supply across the paper path as shown . 7. Close the supply cov er, then to uch Calibrat e Sensor to calibrate th e On-Demand sensor. The printe r feeds one or two labels to calibr ate the on-demand sensor.
For the On-Dem and sensor , the range is betwe en 0 and 5.0. When you ho ld a label over the sensor, the valu es change on the display. Whe n the sensor is blocked by a label, the value is at the hig h end of th e range. When the sen sor is not blocked, the value is ze ro or close to ze ro.
6-8 System Administrat or’s Guide Testing the Printhead 1. Select Printhead Dot Re sistance from the Print er Diagnostics windo w to perform the printhead d ot resistance te st. 2. The print head test che cks for do t resistance. The dot resis tance test checks each dot on the printhead.
CONFIGURING THE SCANNER 7 Use scanner confi guration to set the scanner op erating mod e, trigger mode, and scanner timeou t select the .wav file for successful and unsuccessful scans enable and disab le each spe cific bar code. Setting Scanner Options 1.
4. Touch General . 5. Set the Scanner Operatin g Mode : Momentary, Co ntinuous, or Compat ible. The default is compatib le. Momentary The scanner is on when the trigge r is pressed and go es off when the trigge r is released. Continuous The scanne r is always on.
8. Set the AIM Du ration , whic h is the duration of the ai ming beam when the scanne r is activated. The ra nge is 0.0 - 9.9 seconds in .1-secon d increments (0 disables th e AIM feature) . The defaul t is 0. 9. Set the Linear Security , which is how many times to scan the same ba r code to determine a successful read.
5. Touch the Priority and Sound tab. 6. Set the Prio rity if multiple events try to control the LED at the same time. A higher or eq ual number interrupt s a lower nu mber. Use 0 for most applications , unless you need to over ride the system events (e rror, low batt ery, etc.

Configuring Code 39 Bar Codes 1. To configure Cod e 39 settings, select Code 39 from the Scanner Config uration w indow. Code 39 Allows the scanner to scan Code 39 b ar codes. Transmit CD Tells the scanner to return the check dig it with the data when a Code 39 bar code is scanned.
Configuring I 2 o f 5 Bar Codes 1. To confi gure I 2of5 settings, sel ect I 2 of 5 from the Scanne r Configurat ion window. I 2of5 Allows the scanner to scan I 2of5 bar codes. Transmit CD Tells the scan ner to re turn the chec k digit w ith the data when an I 2of5 bar code is scann ed.
Configuring Codabar Bar Codes 1. To configure Codab ar settings, select Codaba r from the Scanner Configurat ion window. 2. Enable eac h bar code you need to scan. Codabar Allows the scanner to scan Codabar bar cod es. NOTISEdit Tells the scanner to s trip the start and stop characters from scanned Codabar bar codes.
Configuring D 2of5 Bar Codes 1. To confi gure D 2of5 settin gs, select D 2of5 from the S canner Configurat ion window. 2. Enable eac h bar code you need to scan. D 2of5 Allows the scanner to scan D 2of5 bar codes. Lengths Sets the length(s) for D 2of5 bar codes.

Configuring Da ta Matrix 1. Select Data Matrix from page 2 of the Scanner Con figuration wind ow. 2. Set the In verse Data Matrix. 3. Set the Mirrored Data Matrix. 4. Touch OK to save all the settings and ret urn to the Scanner Con figuration wi ndow.
