4 • WORKINGMAN’S 8004 T/O/P ELECTRICAL SPECIFICA TIONS Note: All measurements wer e taken with a line voltage of 120V AC. All voltages and watts are “RMS.
WORKINGMAN’S 8004 T/O/P • 5 Turning The Unit On Remove the AC cable fr om the accessor y pack and connect it fr om the amplifier to a standard wa ll outl et. Make sur e that the both the Gain and Master V olume contr ols ar e set to the minimum position.
6 • WORKINGMAN’S 8004 T/O/P Active Input Jack The Active input jack should be used with instr uments having a built-in (on boar d) p r eamp or other sound sour ces that will pr oduce output levels gr eater than 1 volt RMS.
WORKINGMAN’S 8004 T/O/P • 7 This r emains tr ue up to about the “2 o’clock” position (a popular setting for many), at which point select - ed mids star t to dro p of f— specifically , a gr oup of fr equencies center ed ar ound 800 Hz. At this point and aft er , the ef fect becomes much mor e pr onounced.
8 • WORKINGMAN’S 8004 T/O/P Ef fects Blend Control The Ef fects Blend control “blends” the signal sent fr om your instr ument with the signal coming from your ef fects unit when used in the Ef fects Loop of the Workingman’s 8004.
WORKINGMAN’S 8004 T/O/P • 9 REAR P ANEL FEA TURES Balanced (XLR) Output The Balanced XLR out is a tr ue electr onically balanced output, suitable for studio and “fr ont-of-house” (live) mixing consoles. The level pr esent at this output has been set to a level optimal for most mixing boar d input applications.
10 • WORKINGMAN’S 8004 T/O/P Tuner Out The T uner Out function allows the user to plug their instr ument tuner into this jack and “tune up” without having to unplug and go back and for th from amp to tuner .

T o accomplish this, inser t a CD player or other sound sour ce into the Ef fects Receive jack. (It must be a MONO 1/4" plug that goes into this input, so you’ll have to use a ster eo-to-mono cable adapter of some kind.
12 • WORKINGMAN’S 8004 T/O/P SPEAKER OUTPUT SECTION This section of the manual will deal with the pr oper connection of speaker cabinets to the power amplifier in the Workingman’s 8004. Some of this gr ound has already been cover ed in the Getting Star ted— Connecting Y our Speaker Cabinets section in the beginning of the manual.

14 • WORKINGMAN’S 8004 T/O/P Line Fuse (A/C or Mains Fuse) This fuse is pr ovided to pr otect the inter nal electr onics against power sur ges, etc. It also pr otects the unit against itself should one of the inter nal components fail. If this fuse should open, repl ace it with the same type of fuse and rating.
