Befor e setti ng up your new RackStat ion, pleas e check t he package co ntents to v erify tha t you hav e received the items below . Also, make sure to re ad the safety instruction s carefu lly to avoid harming your self or d amaging your Rack Station .

9 Chapter 2: H ard ware Setu p 4 T o remove the sc rews se curing the t op cover , follow the step s below: a Remove the tw o screw s illustrated b elow. b Remove th e two screw s locate d on the bac k. Then sl ide the t op cover in t he directio n indica ted below and lift .
10 Chapter 2: H ardwar e Setu p 5 To i nsert the new memory module , fol low the step s below : a Release the ej ectors on t he memor y slot by p ushing t hem ou twards. b Align the notch on the gold edge of t he mod ule with t he notch in t he memory slot.
11 Chapter 2: H ardwar e Setu p Confirm New Memor y is Recognized Aft er i nst allin g a new memory module in the RackStation, we recommende d check ing whether or not the sy stem recognizes the new memory . To check the memory of the RackStation: 1 Start up y our RackSt ation.

I n the event of a fa n mal fu nctio n , the RackStatio n will emit a beeping so und. Thi s section w ill guid e you thro ugh the ste ps neces sary to repla ce a malfunction ing fan.
14 Chapter 2: H ardwar e Setu p 4 Find the malfunctio ning fan and l i ft it upward to re move. 5 Apply fir m pressure t o the pow er plug an d slide it off the p ower port as shown below . T hen remove the malfunction ing fan f rom the fa n casing. 6 Slide a new fan into the casing .
15 Chapter 2: H ardwar e Setu p Start u p t he RackS tation 1 Connect on e end of eac h power cord to t h e powe r port s locate d o n the b ack of the Rac kStation and the other end to a power outlet . 2 Connec t at least one LAN cab le to one of the LAN por ts and the oth er end to your sw itch , ro uter , or hub.
