7 Chapter 1: Intro duction Overview Thank y ou for choosing the Thecus IP Storag e S erver. Th e Thecu s IP storage is an easy- to -use storag e server that all ows a dedicated app roach to storing and distributi ng data on a network.
8 Thecus IP storage supports mul tiple RAID volumes on one system. So, you can create RAID 0 for your non- critical data , and create RAID 1, 5,6,50 or 60 (depend on model) for mi ssion-cri tical data. Create the RAID l evels dependin g on your needs.

37 Chapter 2: Hardw are Inst allatio n Overview Your Thecus IP st orage is desi gned for easy install ation. To help you get start ed, the followi ng chapter will help you qui ckly get your Thecus IP storage up and running. Please read it carefull y to prevent dam aging yo ur un it during install ation.

41 Chapter 3: First Time Setup Overview Once the h ardware i s instal led, physi cally connected to your n etwork, and powered on, y ou can c onfigure th e Th ecus IP storage s o th at i t i s accessibl e to you r netw ork users. There are two wa ys to set up your Thecus IP storage: using the Thecus Setup Wizard or the LCD d isplay .
42 6. Name your Thecus IP st orage an d config ure the network IP address. If y our switch or router is c onfigured as a DHC P Server, confi guring the Thecus IP storage to automati cally obtai n an IP address i s recommended. You may also use a stati c IP address and ent er the DNS Server addre ss manually.
43 8. Fi nished! Access the Thecus IP storage Web Ad ministrator Interfac e by pressing the Start Brows er button. You can al so confi gure another Th ecus IP storage at thi s point by cli cking the Setup O ther Device button. Press Exit to exit th e wizard.

Wi th it , you can confi gure and monitor the Thecus IP storage anywher e on the network. Web Administ ration Interface Make sure your network is connected t o the I nternet.
49 Followin g the disclaim er page, you will see the Web Admin istration Interface . From here, you can con figure and moni tor virtually every aspect o f the Thecus IP storage from anywh ere on the network.

60 Notification Configuration Item Description Beep Notification Enable or disable the system buzzer that beeps when a problem occurs. Email Notification Enable or disable email notifications of system problems. Authentication Type Select the SMTP Server account au thentication type.
61 Schedule Power On/Off Using th e Thecus IP storage Sy stem Managemen t, you can save en ergy a nd money by s chedulin g the Thecu s IP st orage t o tu rn i tself on and of f duri ng certain ti mes of the day. From the menu, cho ose the Schedu le Power On/Off item and the Schedule Power On/Off screen appears.
62 A dministrator Pa ssword From the menu, cho ose the Admini strator Pass word item and th e Change Administrator P assword screen app ears. Enter a new pas sword in th e New Password box an d confirm your new pa ssword i n the Confirm Pa ssword box.
63 Factory Default From the menu, choos e the Factory Default item and th e Reset to F actory Default scree n appears . Press Apply t o reset Thecus IP st orage to factory default settings. Reboot & Shutdown From the menu, choose Reboot & Shutd own item, and the Shutdown/Rebo ot System s creen appea rs.
64 Click Yes to reboot the system. Once the system has rebooted, you will be returned to the File Syst em Check prompt. Th ere you wi ll see the avail able RAID vol umes to run the fil e system check . Check the desired RA ID volumes and cli ck Next to proceed with the file system check.
65 Wake-Up On LAN (WOL) The Thecus IP storage h as the abi lity t o b e awoken from sleep mod e vi a WAN/LAN1 or LAN2 port. From th e menu, choos e the WOL item, and th e Wake-up On LA N screen appea rs.

70 The associated scr een shot will app ear after the “ + ” is clicked. Select from avai lable network po rt then move over to selected box. Click “ Lin k ” to confirm the selection. The newly created tab will appear for mo re settings requi red to complete t he link aggregati on configuration.
71 Jumbo Frame Support Enable or disable Jumbo Frame Support of the associated int erface on your Thecus IP storage. Link Type Select from drop down list for desired mode. IPv4/IPv6 Click to enable IPv4/IPv6 for TCP/IP. The default is IPv4 enabled. Mode It has to be a static IP with the link aggregation being used.

73 Disk No. Indicates disk location. Capacity Shows the SATA hard disk capacity. Model Displays the SATA hard disk model name. Link Displays the hard disk interface and link speed Firmware Shows the SATA hard disk firmware version. Status Indicates the status of the disk.

81 Level Description JBOD The storage volume is a single HDD wit h no R AID support. JB OD requires a minimum of 1 disk. RAID 0 Provides data st riping but no red undancy. Improves performance but not data safety. RAID 0 requires a minimum of 2 disks.
82 Remove RAID Click to remove the RA ID volume. Al l user data an d iSCSI created in the selected RAID volume wi ll be deleted. To remove a RA ID volume, foll ow the steps below: 1. On the RAID Li st screen, select the RA ID volume by cli cking on its radio button, and cli ck RAID Info rmation to open t he RAID Confi guration screen.

84 Global Hot Spare Up to 5 RA ID volu mes can be created p er syst em. The global hot spa re supp ort can eliminate the redundant disk usage i n each RAID vol ume. Si mply select an un used disk from the gl obal hot spare di sk list then appl y to activate.
85 Migrating a RA ID Once a RAID volume has been created, you ma y want to move it to other p hysical drives or change t he RAID array al l together. To mi grate a RAID 1, RA ID 5 , RAID 6, RAID50 or RA ID 60 volume, foll ow the steps below: 1. From the RAID Confi guration screen, cl ick Migrate RA ID.

94 ISO Mount The ISO Mount featur e i s a very useful tool from the Thecus p roducts. Wit h i t, users can mount an ISO file and hav e the export name di splay all the details from the mounted ISO fil e. From the main menu, the ISO Mount feature is located und er “ Storag e ” .
95 To m ount the n ew IS O fil e, select one fi le from the list of fil es and i nput the desi red mounting name i nto th e “ Mount as: ” field. Click “ ADD ” to confirm the compl etion of the mounti ng.
96 After completi on, the page will display all moun ted ISO files. You c an cli ck “ Unmount ” to el iminate a mounted ISO file. B. Using ISO The mou nted ISO fil e will be located in th e share fol der of the same n ame as the fil e . Please refer the screen shot b elow.
97 Share Folder From the Storage m enu, choose S hare Folde rs , and the Shared Folder screen appears. Thi s screen allows you to create and c onfigure folders on the Thecus IP storage volume. Adding Folders On the Folder screen , p ress the Add button and the Add Folder screen appears.
98 Modify Folders On the Fold er screen, press the E dit button an d the Modify Fo lder screen appears. Thi s screen allows you to change fol der information.
