5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR LOG SPLITTER Unpacking fr om Crat e • Pry top, si des, and ends off the crate. Set pa nels aside to av oid tire pun cture or personal inj ury. • Remov e and disc ard plast ic bag that co vers unit. • Remov e any loos e parts if in cluded with unit (i.

7 Attaching Beam • For sh ippin g purpose s, the pres sure ho se is attached to th e pump on the engine and to the control valve o n the cylinder . • Discon nect the press ure hose from the adapte r on the pu mp. • Stand the wed ge, beam , and cylinder as sembly upright with cy linder towar d the top.
8 • Remove the pr otective cap from the fitting on top of the filt er head. Attach the end of t he hose to th e fittin g on top of the filter . Place the hos e clam p at the base of the fi tting and tigh ten securel y.
9 SECTION 3: KNOW YOUR LOG SPLITTER Compare the illustrati on in Figure 13 below with the c ontrols on you r log splitte r, and get fami liar with its fea tures before sta rting to oper ate. Know how to stop the ma chine quickly in th e event of an e mergency.
10 SECTION 4: OPERATING YOUR LOG SPLITTER Gas and Oil Fill-Up • Servi ce the engin e with gasol ine and oi l as instruc ted in the engine manua l packed with your log sp litter. Read instr uctions carefu lly. NOTE: Gas oline ca n be add ed to the engine when the log spli tter is in e ither the h orizon tal or ve rtical position .
11 • To lock the beam in the vertical pos ition , pull out on the vertica l beam lock and r otate it to sec ure the beam. See F igure 13. • Stand in fr ont of the unit to op erate the co ntrol handle a nd to stabil ize the log. S ee Fig ure 14A . Horizontal Position • Pull the vertical bea m lock out and ro tate it down.

14 SECTION 7: STORING YOUR LOG SPLITTER Prepare yo ur log spl itter for storag e at the end of the season or if the log splitt er will not be use d for 30 days or more. • Clean the log spli tter thorou ghly.
