C – 4 C Operation Basic operation This section covers basic procedur es in i-TTL mode in combination with a CLS- compatible camera. i-TTL mode enables you to easily take flash photography with well balanced lighting. Slide the battery chamber lid open.

D – 14 D Flash modes and functions Manual mode Setting Manual mode In Manual flash mode, you select the aperture and flash output level. In this way , you can control the exposur e and flash shooting distance when shooting subjects where the correct exposur e is difficult to obtain in the TTL or Non-TTL auto flash mode.
D – 15 D Flash modes and functions T aking a picture in Manual mode Set the camera’ s exposure mode to “A” (Aperture-Priority Auto) or “M” (Manual). Determine the flash output level and aperture to match the flash shooting distance. Flash output level and aperture should be calculated using the calculation formula.
D – 16 D Flash modes and functions Setting the fl ash output level Press the Function button 1, and then r otate the selector dial to change the flash output level. When you rotate the selector dial clockwise, the indicated denominator decreases (flash output level incr eases).
D – 17 D Flash modes and functions Repeating flash Setting the Repeating flash In Repeating flash mode, the SB-900 fires r epeatedly during a single exposure, creating str oboscopic multiple-exposure ef fects. This operation is useful when shooting fast-moving subjects.
