9 HOW TO ST ART YOUR UNIT W ARNING: The blade or trimmer head will turn whi le starting the engine. Avoid any contact wit h the muff ler. A hot muff ler c an cause s erious burns . NOTE: A special feat ure called the “throttle lock” holds t he throttle t rigger in the depressed position during starting.

13 W ARNING: When insta lling the metal insert, you must i nstall f rom the inside of th e trim- mer head. If i nstalled on the outside of t he trim- mer head, thi s insert can fly off and become a dangerous missile. Metal Ins ert 8. Once line is passed through the exit hole, place t he spool in the trimm er head.
14 TROUBLE CAUSE REMEDY Engine will not start. 1. Engine flooded. 2. Fuel t ank empty. 3. Spark pl ug not fi ring. 4. Fuel not reaching carburetor . 5. Carburetor requires adjustm ent. 1. See “Starting a Flooded Engi ne” in Operation Sec tion. 2. Fill tank with correc t fuel mixture.
