Turn R obopet™ on using the Power Swit ch nex t to the ba tter y comp artment. Y ou c an turn him on with or without Edge Detection. (See Robopet™ Diagr am on p age 2 and Edge Detection on p age 12.) A MIND OF HIS OWN Robopet ™ is a na tur all y active robot with a strong personality and a mind of his own.
• Push Stop to make Robopet ™ stop af ter completing his current action. Robopet ™ will wait for about 10 seconds before returning to his Autonomous Beha vior Mode. If you push Stop when Robopet ™ is st anding still he will sit down. If you push Stop when Robopet ™ is sit ting he will st and up.
7 Basic Oper a tion • Press Execute to tell the Robopet ™ to perform your selected trick. • Robopet™ performs tricks best upon smooth, hard, fla t surf aces and when his ba t teries are fresh. If he has difficul ty performing tricks or is too slow, move him to a different surf ace or change his ba t teries.
PROGRAMMING YOUR ROBOPET ™ You can program a sequence of up to 20 moves and tricks using the controller. 1) Press Program to enter Program Mode. Robopet ™ will make a small noise. 2) Enter movement and trick commands as usual. a) Forward and Backward will make Robopet ™ move forward or backward.
GUARD MODE 1) you can tell robopet ™ to guard his environment by pressing the guard mode but ton . Robopet ™ will make a sound to confirm the command and then sit down. 2) in guard mode, robopet ™ will use his sound sensor and infrared vision sensors to react to movement and sound nearby.
TR AINING YOUR ROBOPET™ While Robopet ™ is wandering around autonomousl y he will perform tricks. Y ou can encour age and discourage the tricks tha t he performs using the but tons on the controller. 1) Good Pet : If you want him to perform a trick more often, press the Good Pet but ton within 4 seconds of the trick being performed.
ROBOPET’S™ SENSORS Robopet ™ is equipped with mul tiple sensors tha t allow him to explore his environment and respond to human inter action. SOUND SENSOR Robopet ™ can detect sharp, loud sounds. He onl y listens when he is sa t down and not moving or making a noise.
ROBOPET’S™ SENSORS OBST ACLE A VOIDANCE Robopet ™ uses his vision sensors to a void 0bst acles while wandering around. He will stop and back up when he encounters an obst acle. While walking he will not be able to detect movement so he will react to you as if you are an obst acle.
• Robopet ™ is set up to see remote control commands more easil y when you are in front of him. He will not see so well if the controller is behind him. • Infrared functions like controller commands, Edge Detection and his Infrared Vision Sensors, can be affected by bright sunlight, fluorescent and electronicall y dimmed lighting.
