1 Network Connectivity Inst allation St ep s Step 1. Connect one en d of a Category 5 twisted pair cable to a live network drop. Co nne ct the opposite end of the cable to the RJ-45 socket at the rear of the Device. Step 2. Set the Device's power switch to ON a nd wait until the Main screen is displayed.
2 Step 4. Referring to the Configuration Report, de termine if the appropriate ports a nd protocols are enabled for your Net work env ironment. To support communicating with the Device's In te rnet Se rvices, a series of internal Web Pages that enable remote configuration of operating setting s , the TCP/ IP protocol stack should be enabled.
3 Configuration Report To print a Configuration Report , with the Device switched ON , perform the follow ing steps: 1. Press the Machine Status button . 2. Press the Print Reports butto n . 3. Press the Copy Reports butto n . 4. Press the Configuration Report button .
4 Ethernet S peed Setting The Device's Ethernet Inte rf ace has speed settings of Auto (10 BASE-T/100 BASE-TX), 100 BASE-TX (Half or Full D uplex), and 10 BASE-T (Half or Full Duplex). By defaul t the Ethernet Port Configuration will be set to Auto .
5 Enable Internet Services (HTTP) Internet Servic es are a se ries of Web (HTML) Pag es located wit hin the Devic e enabling ne twork communication settings to be conveniently configur ed from a web browser running on a remotely loca te d workstation.
6 Internet Services (HTTP) Enablement 1. Press the selection line labeled Port Status . 2. Press the Change Settings button. 3. On the Port Status screen, note which of the tw o buttons is highlighted as the current setting for Internet Services En ablement.
7 Proxy Server Settings To use the Web Service butto n on the machine (if available), which enab les the machine to access HTTP file servers on the Internet, you need to ente r your Proxy Server information as described here. 1. 8 Parallel Port Configuration To view or change the settings of the Device's para llel port, perform the following steps: Note: You must have purchased the Para llel (1284) Printing kit and installed the supplied hardware before you can configure this po rt.

11 Bi-Directional Communications 1. Select the down arrow on the screen to see this settin g. 2. On the Parallel Port selectio ns menu, press the selection line l abe led Bi-directional communications .
12 Exiting the Parallel Po rt Selections Menu To exit the Parallel Port Selections Menu, which returns you to the Port Settings menu, press the rectangular Clos e button in the upper righ t corner of the to uch screen. 13 USB Configuration The file folder on the Properties page of Inter net Serv ices (the device’s intern al web page s) contains a folder, labeled Physical Connections . To access this folde r, ent er the IP ad dr es s of th e device in the Address line of your browser and press Enter .
14 SNMP Configuration SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) provid es a method to remotely monitor and diag nose device performance on th e network.

38 Note regarding DNS/WINS NetBIOS Name Resolution To use the Device's NetBIOS name over the TCP/IP Network, the DNS and WINS Servers MUST be configured for NetBIOS name to IP address resolu tion.
39 IPP Configuration The Internet Printing Protocol provides a conven ient way to print over the Int ern et or Intranet using the device's IP address.

45 AS400 Printing AS400 Raw TCP/IP Printing to Port 9100 (CRTDEVPRT) Purpose This is the procedure to set up printin g to a mult ifunction device fr om an AS/400 using the SNMP drivers. Assumptions This procedure is intend ed for users familiar with the AS/400 s ystem, especially those experienced with printing in an AS/400 environment.
46 8. The default [TRAP Commu nity Name] is SNMP_t rap, which you ca n use with out changin g. The Default TRAP commu nity name is used to specify the de fault community name for all traps generated by this machine. 9. 61 Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS) Overview The Common Unix Printing System ( CUPS) wa s create d by Easy Software Pr od ucts in 199 8 as a modern replacement for the Berke l ey Line Printer Daemon (LPD) and AT&T Line Prin ter (LP) system designed in the 1970's for pr inting text to line printers.
62 Installi ng CUPS on the UNIX workstation The instructions for installing a nd building CUPS are contained in the CUPS Software Administrators Manual, written and cop y righted by Easy Softwar e Products and available for downloading at www.cups.org/documenta tion.
63 Adding the Xerox printer 1. Use the PS comma nd to make su re th at the CUPS da emon is running. The daemon can be r esta rted from Linux using the init.d script that w as created wh en the CUPS RPM was installed. The command is > /etc/init.d/cups restart.

76 Inst alling and Using the Network Scanner Utility To retrieve scanned docu ments directly from the Devi ce' s ma ilbox( e s) into an image-editing application such as Adobe® Photoshop®, you nee d to install the Netw ork Scanner Utility (sca n driver) on your workstation.
77 Importing Scanned Data fr om the Mailbox to an Im age-Editing Appl ication 1. Start a TWAIN-compatible applic ation program, such as Photosho p. 2. From the File menu, sele ct the comm and for se lecting the s can sourc e (Import/ Twain Source , in Photoshop).

82 Installation Procedure Installation Overview This section describ es the co nf igu ra tio n pr oc e dure to use the E-mail feature on the machine. The following two steps are necessary to use the E-mail feature. • Enabling the E-mail ports an d setting TCP/IP Set the machine to be able to use TCP/IP.
83 Enabling the E-mail Port s and Setting TCP/IP First enable the E-ma il ports, then set the IP address. Note: The configuration can also be perfo rmed using Ce ntreWare In ternet Serv ices. Note: For information on how to use CentreWare In ternet Services, refer to the Internet Services section of this guide.
84 3. Set an IP address. If an IP address is already set , this step is not necessary. Also, in an environment with DHCP or BOOTP, configure the wa y to obtain an IP address. If the address cannot be obtained automatically or static configuration is preferred, configure an IP addr ess, a subnet mask, and a gateway address as stated below.
85 Configuring the E-mail Environment Note: This configuration can also be performed using CentreWare Internet Services. For informat ion on how to use Ce ntreWare In ternet Serv ices, refer to the Internet Services section of this guide. 1. Display the System Admi nistrator Men u screen.
86 If [POP3] has been sele cted for the [Mail Receiving Protocol] Specify a POP user name to an account na me (the left side of the @ mark), and a POP3 receiving mail server to an address (the righ t side of th e @ mark). A user can decide an alias such as mymail@example.
87 [POP3 Server Port Numb er] Enter a value in the range from 1 to 65535. The default is 110. Note: Do n ot use th e numbers of any o ther ports. [POP3 Server Check Interva l] Set the interval for checking the e-mail on the POP3 server. [POP3 Server Login Name] Enter the name to log in to the POP3 server and press Sa ve .
88 [SMTP Server Port Number] Enter a value in the range from 1 to 65535. The default is 25. Note: This configuration is not necessar y if [SMTP] has been selected fo r the [Mail Receiving Protocol] and has already been configured.
