1 Intr oduc tion Thank you for pur chasing the Ac t ion te c W ireless-Ready Gat eway . The Gateway is the simplest way t o connect a multiple n umber of compute rs to a single high- speed broadband c onnection. This easy-to-use product is perfect for the home office or small business.

3 C onnec ting the G ate wa y The instructions that follow parallel close ly with the steps contained in the Installation B uddy , whic h provides a visual guide to setting up the Gatewa y . It is r ecommended that the user run the Installation Buddy first, before attempting any other pr ocedures.

7 Chapter 2 C onnecting the Gatewa y 2. Plug the loose end of the Pu r ple Cable into the USB P or t on the front or back of your computer . C onnecting the Phone Filters Phone filters separate the DSL signal from the v oice signal on the phone line to allow the user to talk on the phone and be online at the same time.

If y ou connect ed the DSL Gatewa y correctly , a “Congratulations” w indow appears. Click N ext . 2. The first “ A ctiontec Installation Buddy” w indow appears.

15 U sing Qw est DSL Qwest DSL operates ov er home or business phone lines equipped w ith Qwest DSL serv ice. For this reason, the Qwest DSL co nnection is not portable; it can ’t be accessed while a way from home or business. T o c onnect while tr av eling, ask the ISP about a dial-up account.

17 Basic Setup This section is a guide through a basic configuration of the Gateway , including how to connect the Gatewa y to the ISP . Basic Setup To co nfigure the gateway for basic operation: 1. Open the W eb br owser . I n the address bar , enter http://192.

19 Chapter 5 Basic Setup The powe r LED flashes rapidly while the Gateway r estarts, then glows steadily gr een when fully operational. The Gateway is no w configured and users can start surfing the W eb. If an error stating the W eb browser was unable to c onnect to the I nternet appears, ch eck the configuration settings.

27 Chapter 6 Adv anced C onfiguration Wir eless S ettings Selecting Wi re less Settings in the “ Advanced C onfiguration ” screen generates the “W ireless Settings” screen. Modify the wireless capabilities of the Gateway here. ESSID ESSID is the network name assigned to the wireless network.

37 Utilities To access the Gatewa y’ s utilities select Ut ilities from the “Main M enu ” screen. The “Utilities ” screen appears. Fr om here, the W eb activity log can be v iewed, the DSL settings changed, the Gatewa y’ s factory default setting s restor ed, and the Gateway’ s firm ware upgraded.
