Network Requirements Bef ore connecting the machine to the netw ork, mak e sure that configura tion of the c ompu ter and access po int or router is complete, and th at the computer is c onnected to the network.
Pr eparing t o Connect My Multifunction T o My Ne twork Be sure to prepare an access point. Important Information Y ou Need Before Adding Y our Multifunction The following information is required to connect to your access p oint or router. • Access Point Name/Network Name: Also referred to as SSID .
Adding Y our Multifunction t o Y our Ne twork Adding Y our Multifunction to Y our Network 6 Step One Press the Setup bu tto n (A) Step Two Select Wireless LAN setup , and then press the OK button.
Adding Y our Multifunction t o Y our Ne twork 7 Step Four Select Easy setup , and then press the OK button. Step Three Select Yes, then press the OK button.
Step Five Select the access point name, then press the OK button. NOTE : If you are livin g in an apartment, nearby access points in use may be detected. Step Six When one of the following screens is displayed, enter the network key using the Numeric buttons (E), then press the OK bu tton.
Step Eight When the connected to the access point screen appears, press the OK button. The S etup menu screen returns. NOTE: If Failed to connect to the access point . appears, press the OK button, make sure that the network key is correct, then enter it again.
Inst alling the Driv ers & Softwar e To use the m achine by connecting it to a computer, software in cluding the drivers needs to b e co pied (installed) to the com pu ter 's hard disk.
Step Four Click Ea sy Install . Click Insta ll . The dri vers, application software, an d o n-screen manuals are in stalled all together. Step Three Enter your administrator name and password. Click OK . If you do not know your administrator name or password, click Help , then follow the on -scree n instructions.
Step Six Select Use the printer with wireless LAN connection , then click Next . Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installatio n.
Step Eight When the Create an Alias on Desktop screen appears, select Agree if you want an alias of the On-Screen manual to be placed on the desktop , otherwise select D o not Agree, then click Next Step Seven Read the License Agreement screen carefully and click Yes .

Step Two 2-A 1. Select Canon MXxxx series in the li st of printers, then click Add . *xxx refers to the model n umber. MX420 series shown in example, below 2. If the Exte nded Survey Program screen appears: If yo u can agree to Extended Survey Program, click Agree. If y ou click Do not agree , the Extended Survey Program will not be installed. (This h as no effect on the machine's functionality.). Step Eight If the User Registr ation screen appears, read the information and click Next or Can cel .
Step Nine Click Exit. Setup is complete *It is necess ary to restart the compu ter before scannin g using the Operation Panel on the machine for the first time.
