3 [ Cleaning Unplug the set from the wall outlet befor e cleaning or polishing it . Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaner s. Use a cl oth lightly dampened with water for c leaning t he exteri or of the set.
4 Read this first Replace the battery with the specified type only. Otherwise , fire or injury may res ult. Do not expose the batteries to excessive heat such as sunshine, f ire or the like. [ RECYCLING LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES Lithium-I on batteries are recyclable.

8 Notes on using the camera [ Int ernal memory and “ Memory Stick Duo” back up Do not turn off the camera , remove the battery pack, or remove the “Memory S tick Duo” while the access lamp is lit. Otherwise, the internal memo ry d ata or “ Mem or y Stick Duo” may be damaged.

10 1 Preparing the bat tery pack 1 Insert the battery pack into the batte ry charger. 2 Connect the battery charger to the wall outlet (wall socket). The CHARGE lamp lights up, and charging starts. When the CHARGE lamp turns off, charging is finished (Normal charge).
11 2 Inserting the bat tery pack/a “Memory Stick Duo” (not supplied) 1 Open the battery/“Mem ory Stick Duo” cover. 2 Insert the “M emory Stick Du o” (not supp lied). 3 Insert the battery pack. 4 Close the battery/“Memory Stick Duo” cover.
12 [ To remove the batte ry pack/“ Memor y Stick Duo ” Open the b attery/ “Mem ory Sti ck Du o” cove r. • Never remove the battery pack/“Memory St ick Duo” when the access lamp is lit. This may cause damage to data in the “Memory Stick Duo”/i nternal memory.

14 Shootin g image s easily 1 Select the des ired fu nction from th e mode di al. When shooting still ima ges (Auto Ad justment mode): Select . When shooting m ovies: Select . 2 Hold the camera, w ith your elbow s pressed against yo ur body to steady it.
15 Mode di al/Zoom/ Flash/Macro /Self- timer/Di splay [ Using the mode dial Set the mode dial to the desire d function. Auto Adjus tment Allows yo u to shoot with the settings adju sted automatically. Easy Sh ooting Allows easy s hooting with easy-to-see indicators.
16 Fireworks Shoots fireworks in all their splendor. Underwat er Shoots underw ater in natural colors usin g a water-proof hous ing. [ W/T Using the zoom Press T to zoom, p ress W to und o zoom . [ Fl ash (Se lect ing a fl ash mod e for still images ) Press B ( ) on the cont rol button rep eatedl y until the de sired mode is selected.
17 Shooting in Smile Shu tter mode Whe n the ca mer a de tects a smil e, the shut ter is rele ase d auto mati cal ly. 1 Select (Smile Sh utter) mode from the mode dial. 2 Press the shutter button halfway down to adjust th e focus while aiming the camera at th e subject t o be shoot.
18 Viewi ng/ del eting im ages 1 Press (Playback). If you press when the camera is powered off, the camera is turned on automatically and set to playback mode. To switch to the shooting mode, press again. 2 Select an image with b / B on the contro l button.
19 [ To v iew an inde x sc reen Press (Inde x) to display th e index scre en while a still image is displa yed. Then, selec t an image with v / V / b / B .
20 [ To view images on TV Connect the ca mera to t he TV with the cable f or mult i-use terminal (suppli ed). To vi ew on HD (H igh D efiniti on) TV, an H D Out put A daptor Cable (not suppl ied) i s neede d. • If you set the image s ize to [16:9], you can record images in the size that fills the entire screen of the HD TV.
21 Learn ing th e variou s func tio ns – HOME/ Menu Using the HOME screen The H OME scre en is the ga teway sc reen for al l the func tions of the c amera, and can b e called up rega rdless of the m ode se tting ( shooting/vie wing). 1 Press HOME to display the HOME screen.

34 Trouble shoo ting If you ex perience tr ouble with th e camer a, try the foll owing solut ions. Be aw are that by send ing the camera for repa ir, you give cons ent th at the con tent s of the interna l memory, Music fil es may be checke d. Cannot insert the battery pack.
35 The remaining charge indicator is incorrect. • This pheno menon occu rs when you use the cam era in an extre mely hot or cold loc ation. • A discre pancy aros e between the remaini ng charge indicator and the ac tual remai ning ba ttery charge.
36 Cannot play back images. • Press (Playback) (page 18). • The folde r/file name h as been changed o n your comput er. • Sony does not guar antee pla yback of image files on the camer a if the files ha ve been processed using a computer or recorded with ano ther camera .
37 Precau tion s [ Do not u se/store th e camer a in the following places • In an extremely hot, cold or humid place In places such as in a car parked in th e sun, the camera body may become deformed and this may c ause a malf unc tion .
