22 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety The safety aspects of this appliance c omply with accepted technical standards and the German Appliance Safety Law . How ever , as manuf ac- turer s we also believe it is our responsibility to familiarise you with the following safety instructions.
23 Safety During Use • This appliance may only be used fo r normal cooking and frying in the home. It is not designed for commercial or industrial purposes. • Do not use the hob to heat the r oom. • Take car e when plugging electric appliances into mains sockets near the hob .
24 2 Disposal Disposing of the packagin g material All materials used can be fully r ecycled. Plastics are marked as follows: • >PE< for polyethylene, as used fo r the outer wrapping and the bags inside. • >PS< for polystyrene foam, e.
25 Description of the Appliance Cooking surface layout Befor e Using for the First Time Initial Cleaning Wipe the ceramic glass surface with a damp cloth.
26 Oper ating the Hob 3 When a cooking zone is switched on, it may hum briefly . This is a char- acteristic of all ceramic glass cook ing zones and does not impair either the function or the life of the appliance.
27 Uses , T ables and Tips Pa ns The better the pan, the better the results. • Y ou can r ecognise good pans by their bases. The base should be as thick and flat as possible. • P ay particular attention when buying new pans to the diameter of the base.
28 Settings for Cookin g on the Rings The setting position r equired for cook ing pr ocesses is dependent on the quality of the pots and on the type and amount of the food. 3 When heating up or frying, we r eco mmend heat setting “9", a nd then continue cooking foods at an appropriate lower heat setting.
29 Cleaning and Car e Hob 1 Important: Cleaning agents must not come into contact with the hot ceramic glass surface! A ll cleaning agents must be removed with plenty of clean water after cleaning bec.
30 1 Pr oblem Dirt 1. Remove burnt-on sugar , melted plas- tic, aluminium foil or other meltable materials with a glass scraper imme- diately and while still hot . 1 Important: There is a risk of burning yourself when the glass scr aper is used on a hot cooking zone! 2.
31 What to do if … Rectifying faults It is possible that faults have been caused by a minor error , which you can correct yourself with the help of the following instructions. Do not attempt any further repair s if the following instructions do not help in each specific case.
32 Installation Instructions 1 Important! The new appliance may only be installed and connected by qualified personn el . Please observe this instruction, otherwise the warranty will not cover any damage that may occur .
33 Regulations , Standards , Dir ectives This appliance meets the following standards: • EN 60 335-1 and EN 60 335-2-6 relating to the safety of electric al appliances for household use and similar .
34 Electrical Connection • Before connection, check whether the nominal voltage of the appli- ance, the voltage stampe d on th e nameplate, is in agr eement w ith the available supply voltage and the nominal voltage of the combi- nation appliance. The nameplate is situated on the under-covering of the cooking surface.
