ENGLISH 5 Remote controller (only f or KD-S6350) This section is only f or KD-S6350. 1 • T urns on the unit if pressed when the unit is turned off. • T urns off the unit if pressed and held until “SEE Y OU” appears on the displa y . • Drops the volume le vel in a moment if pressed briefly .
ENGLISH 6 Remote sensor W ARNING: • Stor e the batteries in a place which children cannot r each. If a child accidentally swallows the battery , consult a doctor immediately . • Do not r echarge, short, disassemble or heat the batteries or dispose it in a fir e.
7 ENGLISH 4 Adjust the sound as y ou want (see pages 14 – 16). T o drop the volume in a moment Press briefly while listening to any source. “A TT” starts flashing on the display , and the volume le vel will drop in a moment. T o resume the previous v olume lev el, press the button briefly again.
8 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or man ual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM 1 – 3, AM). Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
9 ENGLISH 3 T une in to a station you want while “ M ” is flashing. • If you release y our finger from the button, the manual mode will automatically turn off after 5 seconds. • If you hold down the b utton, the frequency keeps changing (in 200 kHz intervals for FM and 10 kHz for AM) until y ou release the button.
10 ENGLISH MO RPT RND 7 8 9 10 11 12 Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM) manually . Ex: Storing an FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) you want to store FM stations into (in this example, FM1).
11 ENGLISH Playing a CD 1 Insert a disc into the loading slot. The unit turns on, draws a CD and starts playbac k automatically . Note: When a CD is inserted upside down, the CD automatically ejects. Note on One-T ouch Operation: When a CD is alr eady in the loading slot, pressing CD turns on the unit and starts playback automatically .
12 ENGLISH Locating a track or a particular portion on a CD T o fast-for ward or reverse the track T o go to the next tracks or the previous tracks T o go to a particular track directly Press the number button corresponding to the track number to start its playback.
13 ENGLISH Prohibiting CD ejection Y ou can prohibit the CD ejection and can loc k a CD in the loading slot. Press and hold CD and 0 for more than 2 seconds. “ EJECT ” flashes on the display f or about 5 seconds, and the CD is loc ked and cannot be ejected.
14 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to y our preference. 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustable items change as follows: Indication T o do: Range BAS Adjust the bass.
15 ENGLISH Recalling the sound modes When “SCM LINK” is set to “LINK ON, ” select the source. Each time you change the playback source, the SCM indicator flashes on the display . The sound mode stored in memory for the selected source is recalled.
16 ENGLISH Storing your own sound adjustment Y ou can adjust the sound modes (BEA T , SOFT , POP: see page 15) to your preference and store your o wn adjustments in memor y . • There is a time limit in doing the follo wing procedure. If the setting is cancelled before you finish, start from step 1 again.
17 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS Setting the clock 1 Press and hold SEL (Select) for more than 2 seconds. “CLOCK H”, “CLOCK M”, “SCM LINK” or “LEVEL ” appears on the display . 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “CLOCK H” if not shown on the display .
18 ENGLISH 3 Select the desired mode — “ V OL 1 ” , “ V OL 2 ” or “ OFF ” . 4 Press SEL (select) to finish the setting. Selecting the level display Y ou can select the le vel displa y according to your preference. When shipped from the f actor y , “V OL 2” is selected.
19 ENGLISH Note on cleaning the connectors: If you fr equently detach the control panel, the connectors will deteriorate. T o minimize this possibility, periodically wipe the connectors with a cotton swab or cloth moistened with alcohol, being car eful not to damage the connectors.
20 ENGLISH MAINTENANCE Handling CDs This unit has been designed to reproduce CDs and CD-Rs. • Other discs cannot be play ed back. This unit is not compatible with MP3. How to handle CDs When removing a CD fr om its case, press down the center holder of the case and lift the CD out, holding it by the edges .
21 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not always serious. Check the following points before calling a service center . Symptoms • CD cannot be play ed back. • CD sound is sometimes interrupted. • “NO DISC” appears on the display .

3 ENGLISH ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS T o pre vent short circuits, we recommend that you disconnect the battery’s negativ e ter minal and mak e all electrical connections before installing the unit. If you are not sure how to install this unit correctly , hav e it installed by a qualified technician.
4 PRECAUTIONS on power supply and speaker connections: • DO NOT connect the speaker leads of the power cord to the car battery; otherwise, the unit will be seriously damaged. • Connect the black lead (g round), yellow lead (to car battery , constant 12V), and red lead (to an accessory ter minal) correctly .
