2 1. Product Description The PERS-4200 Console is a UL Listed supervised wireless emergency repor ting product designed f or personal emergency repor ting applications. The table-top Console provides “pushbutton” emergency assistance to any one who desires additional security and peace of mind.

4 2.2 Console Options Cellular Interface Module The Model UMTS-3G Cellular Interface Module pro vides 2-wa y ov er-the-air digital communications between the Console and the monitoring ser vice. The cellular module can be used to replace the traditional land-line telephone connection f or emergency repor ting.

6 4. Console Modes & Features The Console operates in se veral modes and has f eatures that suppor t both the provider and the subscriber . 4.1 Provider Modes The Console has special modes of operation to aid the installer during setup and confi guration.
7 4.3 User Modes The Console features three modes of oper ation for the user . Each mode changes the wa y the Console reacts or annunciates, depending on where the user is, or what time it is. Home Mode Home Mode is the standard mode of operation f or the Console when the user is at home during the day .
8 5. Using the Provider Modes The Console features special modes of oper ation to aid the installer during setup and confi gur ation. 5.1 Power Off Mode P ower Off Mode allo ws for out-of-service storage of the Console without discharging the backup battery .
9 6. Programming with RA4200 Linear’ s RA4200 software confi gures the PERS-4200 Console remotely or locally . 6.1 Software Description The RA4200 software described in this manual suppor ts the prog ramming Linear’ s Model PERS-4200 P ersonal Emergency Reporting System.
10 7. Programming Outline Use the follo wing programming outline to guide y ou through the steps required to set up the RA4200 software and progr am a PERS-4200 Console. Many of the programming options a vailab le in the RA4200 program can be left in their def ault settings, and do not need to be changed for most installations .
11 9. T esting the Modem A modem is used when connecting to a Console remotely , over the telephone line. A modem is not required for local progr amming with a USB cable . When using a modem, be sure that the computer is running correctly and that the modem is installed and working properly before you run the RA4200 Remote Access Program.

RA4200 Software Over view The RA4200 software is a Windows compatib le program with menus and tabs to select various account fi elds to make selections and enter data. 10.1 Starting the Program T o Run the Program: Double-clic k on the RA4200 desktop icon or press ST ART , point to ALL PRO G RAMS , Linear , RA4200 and clic k on RA4200 .
13 10.3 The Menu Bar The menu bar provides access to each of the prog rams sub-menus. The icons below the menu bar are used to open, sa ve , and print subscr iber Account T emplates and perform various actions with the PERS-4200 Console.
14 11. Creating a Custom Account T emplate Each PERS-4200 Console installation requires an Account T emplate. While many items are the same in diff erent Consoles repor ting to the same Central Station, some items (account number , customer information, & sensor inf or mation) are unique f or each installation.
15 11.2 Console T ab The Console tab displays fi ll-in fi elds for setting inf or mation and options for the specifi c PERS-4200 Console. Subscriber Password Enter a new 4-digit subscriber pass word for the Console . This is the passw ord that the subscriber can use to call the Console from a remote telephone and access user features .
16 Annunciate T rouble Indication With this option box chec ked, the Console will announce three system trouble conditions if the y occur : Console low batter y , sensor low batter y , and no sensor status. Sensor troubles type are announced f ollowed by the sensor zone number .
17 11.3 Sensors T ab The Sensors tab displays fi ll-in fi elds f or setting inf ormation regarding the wireless sensors programmed into the Console . Sensor status indicators also display the current condition of the sensor . Up to 16 wireless sensors can be used with each PERS-4200 Console.
18 Sensor Zones Each of the Console’ s 16 wireless sensor zones has individual setup options. All the options are set on the Sensors tab. ID Each wireless transmitter is coded with a unique ID number at the factory . If the transmitter has been locally “lear ned” by the Console, the ID number will appear in the ID fi eld.
19 11.4 Communicator T ab The Communicator tab displa ys fi ll-in fi elds f or setting information regarding the Console’ s communication method and options f or PSTN and IP repor ting.
20 Public Switched T elephone Network (PSTN) Reporting Settings for dial-up reporting using the telephone network are set in this area. Account Number The account number can be up to 10 digits long.
21 11.5 Reporting Options T ab The Repor ting Options tab displa ys fi ll-in fi elds for setting information regarding the Consoles’ general communicator repor ting options and includes a 4 x 2 section for assigning custom 4 x 2 reporting codes if desired.
22 Automatic Status Reports Automatic status reports of all pending super visory conditions can be sent to the Central Station at a daily , weekly or monthly schedule until the supervisor y condition is cleared or corrected. If split repor ting is enabled, the automatic status repor t will be sent to the supervisor y number only .
23 11.6 Reminder Messages T ab The PERS-4200 Console has a real-time clock calendar (R TCC) function that can be set to the correct time and date, and then accessed to schedule ev ents and actions by the Console , including a scheduled reminder message feature .
24 Timeout Inter v al A 15 or 30-minute timeout interval can be programmed as a setting f or all reminder messages. If the reminder message is not acknowledged prior to expir ation of the timeout inter v al, a missed reminder e vent report can be sent to the Central Station if repor ting of missed reminder messages is enabled.
25 T est Reminder A test reminder message is provided f or prompting the subscriber to perform a system test. The y will be prompted to activate their emergency transmitter or press the HELP button on the Console. Either activation will send a test repor t to the Central Station.
26 12. Console Communication The RA4200 software connects to the PERS-4200 Console using the Send/Receive windo w . A Console must be connected to the RA4200 before an y data can be sent to , or received from it.
27 12.3 Sending and Receiving Console Data Once the Console is connected to the RA4200 software, data can be exchanged in either direction. Console Time and Date The Console’ s clock and calendar will maintain the current time & date .
28 12.4 Limited Remote T elephone Programming Some basic confi guration areas of the PERS-4200 Console can be programmed b y a remote telephone phone call. The programming is limited to Repor ting F ormat, Pr imary Phone Number , Account Number settings.
29 13. Sensor Learn / T est Mode Wireless transmitters are called “sensors” in the PERS vocab ular y . In Learn / T est Mode the Console can lear n new sensors , test sensors, and erase all sensors. ✓ NO TE: While in Learn / T est Mode, all normal operations of PE R S-4200 Console are suspended.
30 13.2 Learning a Single Sensor Learn Sensor Mode may also be entered by pressing and holding the CANCEL button f or fi v e seconds. The Console will announce: 0 “ R eady to learn sensor ... Zone [number]”. Activate the sensor to learn. The Console will announce: 0 “[Fire, Activity , Emergency , or Carbon Mono xide] sensor learned”.
31 14. Event Log The Console will log system ev ents in its memory they occur . The log can be retriev ed by the RA4200 software . Each event is tagged with the date and time that the ev ent was recorded. The log contains the most recent 100 Console ev ents.
32 15. Printing or Exporting a T emplate For hardcop y records, an account template can be sent to a local printer connected to the PC running the RA4200 Remote Access software. The PRINT / PREVIEW tool also allows e xpor ting an account template to an Excel .
33 16. Updating Console Firmware The PERS-4200 Console runs on inter nal softw are code called “fi rmware”. Firmware code stays stored in the Console’ s memor y and can be upgraded using the RA4200 application when fi r mware updates become av ailable .
