W arning and Safety instructions 10 Correct use Never use a nak ed flame beneath the cooker hood. T o avoid the danger of fire, do not flambé or grill over a nak ed flame. When switched on, the cooker hood could dr aw flames into the filter . F at deposits could ignite, presenting a fir e hazard.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Do not use the co oker hood without the filters in place. This way you will avoid the risk of grease and dirt getting int o the appliance and hindering its smooth oper ation. Ther e is a risk of fire if the cook er hood is not cleaned as descri‐ bed in these oper ating instructions.
W arning and Safety instructions 12 If exhaust air is t o be extr acted into a chimney or ventilation duct no longer used for other purposes, seek professional advice. Cleaning and care Do not use a st eam cleaning appliance to clean this appliance.
Caring for the envir onment 13 Disposal of the packing mate‐ rial The packaging is designed to pr otect the appliance fr om damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Modes of operation 14 Depending on the model of the cooker hoo d, the following options are availa‐ ble: Extraction mode The air is drawn in and cleaned by the gr ease filters and dir ected outside. Non-return flap The non-return flap is designed t o pre‐ vent the e xchange of r oom and outside air taking place.
Modes of operation 15 Con@ctivity 2.0 function Automatic contr ol The cooker hood has a communication fac ility which enables the automatic op‐ eration of the cook er hood depending on the operational stat e of the hob. T o make use of the communication fa‐ c ility, the hob must be fitted with a Con@ctivity 2.

Operation (Aut omatic mode) 18 When Con@ctivity 2.0 is activated, the coo ker hood always works in automatic mode (see "Activating Con@ctivity 2.0"). T o operat e the cooker hood manually, see "Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0". Cooking with Con@ctivity 2.
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 19 Cooking process If for e xample you switch on a cook‐ ing zone at the highest power level to heat a pan for frying and reduce the power level after appr ox. 60 to 90 seconds*, a cooking process is r ec‐ ognised (*60 seconds to 5 minutes for a HiLight hob).
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 20 Leaving aut omatic mode tem‐ por arily T o leave automatic mode tempor arily during cooking: Manu ally select a different power lev‐ el, or Manu ally switch the cooker hood off, or Activate the run-on option on the cooker hood.
Operation (Manual mode) 21 Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0 (Manual mode) The cooker hood can be oper ated man‐ ually if: – Con@ctivity 2.0 is not activated. – Y ou have tempor arily deactivated Co n@ctivity 2.0 (see "Leaving aut o‐ matic mode tempor arily").
Operation (Manual mode) 22 Selecting the run-on time It is advisable to run the fan for a few mi nutes after cooking has finished t o neutralise any lingering vapours and odours in the air . With the run-on option the fan switches itself off automatically after a pr e-selec‐ ted time.
Operation (Manual mode) 23 P ower management The cooker hood features a power manag ement system to help save ener‐ gy . The fan power level is reduced and the lighting is switched off automatical‐ ly . – If the Intensive setting is selected, the fan aut omatically switches to lev‐ el 3 after 5 minutes.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 24 Operating hours count ers The number of hours the appliance has been in oper ation is stor ed in memory . When the Grease filt er symbol or the Char coal filter symbol lights up, the operating hours count ers are signalling that the filters need to be cleaned or changed.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 25 Activating and altering the charcoal filt er operating hours counter Charcoal filt ers are needed for recir cu‐ lation mode.
Energy saving tips 26 This cooker hood oper ates very effi‐ cien tly and economically . The following will help you to save even mor e energy when using it: – Ensure that ther e is sufficient ventila‐ tion in the kitchen when cooking.
Cleaning and care 27 Casing General information The surfaces and controls ar e sus‐ ceptible t o scratches and abr asion. Please observe the following clean‐ ing instructions. All e xternal surfaces and contr ols can be cleaned using hot water with a small amount of washing-up liquid applied with a well wrung-out soft sponge or cloth.
Cleaning and care 28 Grease filters The re-usable metal gr ease filters in the appliance r emove solid particles (grease, dust, etc.) fr om the kitchen va‐ pours, preventing soiling of the cooker hood. An oversatur ated filter is a fir e hazard.
Cleaning and care 29 Cleaning the grease filters by hand Cle an the filters with a soft nylon brush in a mild solution of hot water and a small amount of washing-up liquid. Do not use "neat" washing up liquid. Unsuitable cleaning agents Unsuitable cleaning agents can cause damage t o the surface of the filters if used regularly .
Cleaning and care 30 Resetting the grease filter oper ating hou rs counter After cleaning, the oper ating hours coun ter needs to be r e-set. Whilst the fan is switched on, pr ess the operating hours contr ol for appro x. 3 seconds, until only the 1 is flashing.
Cleaning and care 31 When to change the charcoal filters Always r eplace the charcoal filt ers when they no longer absorb kitchen odours effectively . They should, however be replaced at least every 6 months. The charcoal filt er operating hours sym‐ bol will ligh t up to r emind you to change the charcoal filt ers.

Installation 34 Safety distance between hob and cooker hood (S) When planning the installation height of your cooker hood, the minimum safety distance between the top of a cooker or hob and the bott om of the cooker hood is as follows, unless a great er distance is specified by the manufacturer of your cooking appliance.
Installation 35 Installation recommendations – T o achieve optimum vapour extr ac‐ tion , the cooker hood must cover the hob. It should be positioned centrally over the hob, not to the side of it. – The hob should be no wider than the coo ker hood, and if possible, it should be narrower .

Installation 39 Repositioning the ducting The motor unit can be r otated to allow the ducting to be fitted at the back of the cooker hood. This may be necessa‐ ry if the cooker hood is being fitted in a reduced height wall unit, for e xample. Repositioning is carried out before in‐ stalling the cooker hood.
Installation 40 P ull the grease filt ers out of the slots in the front of the cooker hood hous‐ ing. The spacer strip needs to be attached t o the back of the cooker hood housing before the cooker hood is installed in the wall unit. The spacer strip can be attached to the upper or lower edge of the deflector plate.
Installation 41 Scr ew the brack ets onto the right and left inside walls of the housing unit so that they are flush with the bott om edges of the unit. The brack ets are designed for 16 and 19 mm thick unit sides. Orientate the br acket so that the vertical depth matches the thick‐ ness of the unit side, as shown.
Installation 42 Fi t the cooker hood into the wall unit from below . Guide it back over the safety notch until it is correctly hung in the wall unit. P ull the deflector plate downwar ds slightly and then towar ds you. T ighten the four fixing scr ews from below.
Installation 43 When fitting a 900 mm wide cooker hoo d into a 900 mm wide housing unit without side base supports, the retain‐ ing brack ets supplied are used to align the cooker hood and provide additional support. The retaining br ackets are se‐ cured t o the back panel of the wall unit.
Installation 44 When retr acted, the deflector plat e is held in place by magnets. The r etaining force of the magnets can be adjusted. The magnets should be adjusted so that the deflector plat e is held in place securely on the left and right hand side and can be lowered slightly .
Installation 45 Secur e the spacer strip to the bottom of the wall unit as well. Inser t the cover for the charcoal filt er slots as shown and close it. It is held in place by magnets. T ake the grease filt ers out and re‐ move any prot ective foil.
Installation 46 dai2699 Attach the exhaust ducting, e.g. fle xi‐ ble hose, to the e xhaust socket using a hose clip (available as an optional accessory). When using 125 mm ducting, fit the reducing collar sup‐ plied into the e xhaust socket (see "Connection for air extr action").
Installation 47 wall or the ceiling. A non- return flap is not used in r ecir‐ culation mode. Fi t the charcoal filt ers (see "Cleaning and care"). Electrical connection Refer to the notes in “Electrical con‐ nection” and “Warning and Safety in‐ structions” before connecting t o the electricity supply .
Electrical connection 48 All electrical work should be under‐ taken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accor d‐ ance with current national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufac‐ turer cannot be held liable.
Connection for air e xtraction 49 I f this cooker hood is used at the same time as a heating appliance that relies on o xygen from the same room ther e is a risk in certain circum‐ stances of to xic fumes building up. It is essential that the "Warning and Safety" instructio ns are observed.
Connection for air e xtraction 50 Condensate trap In addition to insulating the e xhaust ducting , we recommend that a suitable condensate tr ap is also installed to col‐ lect and evaporat e any condensate which may occur . Condensate tr aps for 125 mm or 150 mm ducting are available as optional accessories.
Connection for air e xtraction 51 Recirculation mode The silencer needs to be positioned be‐ tween the e xhaust socket and the ex‐ haust grille .
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 52 Installing the Con@ctivity 2.0 S tick In order t o use the Con@ctivity 2.0 fun ction, the hob must first be fitted with the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick. Ple ase read the separ ate installation instructions supplied with the Con@ctivity 2.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 53 Activating the hob While the coo ker hood is searching for a signal, start activating the hob. More information about this can be found in the Operating instructions for the hob.
