2 The GEM- DXRP3 is a “ smart ”, interac tive, menu-driven keypad d esigned for y our Napco control panel. A digital display is provided to show the sta tus of your system. This booklet contain s important information about the operation of your system with this GEM- DX RP3 Ke yp ad.

5 KEYPAD CONTROLS & INDIC A TORS Window. Lights indicate system status m essages; digit displa y indicates related zo ne, function or error m essage number s. STATUS Light. Lights (gr een) to indicate tha t the system is re ady for a rming. If a zone is not secured, the light will be off and the zone w ill display in the window.

9 PROTECTING YOURSELF WHILE ON TH E PREMISES Emer gency Button s (Only available if programmed) The Blue Emergency Buttons ( 7 , 8 & 9 ), if p rogrammed, are alway s active, whether the system is armed or di sarmed. The emergency signal will only be transmitted when an Emergency Button and G are pressed at the same time.
10 T UR N I N G O F F T H E AL AR M ( D I S AR M I N G ) W H E N RE T U R N I N G Disarming the Sy stem 1. Enter your premises t hrough the Entry/Exit door. The keypad w ill sound a steady tone to remind you to disarm the system before your Entry Delay time e xpires.
11 FIRE PROTECTION (Applicable only where local ordinanc e pe rmits use of this alarm cont rol panel for fire protection). Fire-Z one A larm If a f ire is detected, the FIRE/TBL light will display with the zone number and the keypad sounder will pulse.
12 FIRE PROTECTION Preparing a Fire Escape Plan Even with the most advanced fire alarm system, ad equate protection requires an e scape plan. To prepare your plan, draw floor plans of your building. (Space is prov ided on the next page). Show two exits - a front or back door and a window from each room.

14 FIRE PROTECTION Although a fire alarm system may be of a reliable and state-of- the- art design, neither it nor its peripheral detection dev ices can offer guaranteed protection against f ire.
15 KEYPAD FUNCTIONS The keypad can provide access to a w ide assortm ent of utility functions. The functions are displayed in a promptin g “YES/NO” format. 1. To enter the Functio n Menu, press A . • In all UL-listed or high-s ecurity installations, a valid User Code must first be entered follow ed by A .
16 KEYPAD FUNCTIONS 4. Display System Troubles? Displays a 1- or 2-digit error code re presenting a problem detected in the s ystem. (S ee SYSTEM TROUBLE ERROR CODES for a description of these code s). Use NEXT( E ) and PRIOR ( F ) to scroll system troubles.
17 KEYPAD FUNCTIONS 9. Re set Syst em Troub le? Sy stem tro ubles displ ay and sou nd at the keypad. Correcting the trouble will clear most indications, how ever the following error c odes will requir e manual reset: E 11; E13; E19 ; E20 a nd E22. (See SYS TEM TROUBLE E RROR COD ES fo r a d escr iption of error code s).
18 KEYPAD FUNCTIONS 15. A ctivate Telephone T est? (Telephone Te st programmed? YES NO). Sends a communicator test to t he central station. A comm unication failure will be indicated at the keypad by a system trouble “E03-00” display .
19 KEYPAD FUNCTIONS 17. Activate Program? Activates the Pro gram Mode fro m Key pa d N o. 1. Note : This feature is disabled while arm ed. (See PROGRAMMING USER CODES). 18. Activate Download? Fo r installer's use only . If accidentally enabled, press C to exit.
20 Your alarm specialist ma y have progr ammed your s ystem to be monit ored by a centra l station. The b uilt-in dig ital communicator can tran smit emergency signals and status reports to th e central station 24 hou rs a day. Communicato r Features Abort Delay .
21 A DVA NCED FEA TURES Security By pass/Unbypass (Securit y Bypass programmed? YES NO) . In high-s ecurity applications, zones may be bypassed (or unbypass ed) only if a vali d code is entered first, as follows: 1. Enter a User Code valid for bypass, then press B .

24 GLOSSARY Following are brief descriptions of term s and features used herein that m ay be un familiar to yo u. Some o f the f eatures are programmable options th at may or may no t apply to your particular system. Abort De lay - A delay period that allows the control panel to be reset, thus aborting a report to a central station.
25 GLOSSARY Instant Protection - Arming without entry delay using the F button wh ile remaining on the premises. INTERI OR Button - Bypasses Interior Zones on arming (see Zones - Interior Zones). Key pad - Puts control-pa nel functio ns at your fingert ips.
26 GLOSSARY Zones - Independe nt circuits that protect specific areas of the premises: • A uto-Bypass Zone : A zone that will be auto matically bypassed from the protection system if it is in trouble (faulty) when the s ystem is arm ed. • Burgla ry Zone: De tects intrusion.
27 SYSTEM TROUBLE ERROR CODES Your control pane l is capable of detecting a variety of troubles that may affect syste m performance. In the unlikely eve nt that a problem should occur, the SYS TBL (system trouble) light will display in the keypad window along with one or more of the following erro r codes .

31 TROUBLESHOOTING What do I do if... For more info... I try to arm my system but the keypad just displays a P and beeps at me. If the green STATUS light is off, a zone is open . Refer to the Pull Up Zone Directory and find and secure the open window or door.
