SECTION I SAFETY INFORMA TION W ARNINGS IMPOR T ANT : READ THIS OWNER’S MANUAL CAREFULL Y AND COMPLETEL Y BEFORE TR YING T O ASSEMBLE, OPERA TE, OR SER - VICE THE APPLIANCE. 5. Two models are available. One specific m ode l for propane (LP), and one for natural gas. Use the correct gas type for your home. This un it is not field convertible. 6. If these gas logs are for use with propane gas, do not place propane supply tank(s) inside any structure.
19. Make sure any safety screen or guard (if an y) that was removed for servicing is in place before operating gas logs. 20. Strong drafts, such as a ceiling fan placed directly in front of the firep lace, may create sooting. Sooting may discolor walls.
SECTION II RESIDENTIAL INST ALLA TION OF GAS LOGS FIREPLACE PREP ARA TION The fireplace needs to be prepared before installing the gas logs. A. Turn off the gas supply to the fireplace. B. Any outside air ducts on the fireplace sha ll be perm anently closed at the time of the appliance installation.

GAS CONNECTION Check gas type. Use only the type of gas indicat ed on the valve rating plate. If the type of gas listed on the plate is not your type of gas supply, DO NOT INSTALL. Contact your dealer for proper model. Always use an external regulator for all LP heaters to reduce the supply tank pressure to a maximum of 13” W.

GAS PRESSURE CHECK Check the inlet pressure to the burner to ensu re that it is as shown in the ta ble below. NOTE: The pressure check point is located on right side of valve facing the burner.

THERMOST A T CONTROL OPERA TION The thermostat contro l used on this heater differs from standard therm ostats. Standard thermostats simply turn the burner on and off. Th e therm ostat used on this heater senses the room temperature and adjusts the amount of gas flow to the burner.
BURNER & PILOT FLAME CHECK A periodic check of the flames should be made . The flame should always be present when the gas logs are in operation. Flames: The flame should extend about 3” to 4” above the rear log for natural gas and about 6” for propane (LP) gas.

VENTILA TION AIR VENTILA TION AIR FROM INSIDE BUILDING This fresh air would come from an adjoining un confined space. W hen ventilating to an adjoin- ing space, you must provide two perm anent openings: one within 12” of the ceiling a nd one within 12” of the floor on the wall connecting the two spaces (See options 1 and 2, Figure 6).
VE NTILA TION AIR FROM OUTDOORS Provide extra fresh air by using ventilation grills or ducts. You must provide two permanent openings: one within 12” of the ceiling and one within 12” of the floor. Connect these items directly to the outdoors. These spaces includ e attics and crawl spaces.
SECTION VI VENTED (1) This appliance must be installed only in a solid-fuel burning fire place with a working flue and constructed of non- combustible materials. (2) A minimum of 25.7 sq. in. (Min. 6” chimney) or see page 24, permanent flue opening must be provided by either the fireplace chimney or chimney damper to vent the flue gases.

IMPOR T ANT SAFEGUARDS Although your gas logs are very re alistic in appearance, it is not a real burning fireplace and must not be used for burning solid fuel. To avoid irreparable damage to the heater or personal injury, matches, paper, garbage, or any other material must not be placed or thrown on top of the log s or into the flames.
