MAIN T AIN CONTROL S Keep a good, firm gr ip on the pruner with both hands w hen the engine is running and don’t let go.

7 S Throw away and replac e blades that are bent, warped, c rac k ed, brok en or damaged in any other way. S Inst all required s hield pr operly before us ing the unit. 8 S Be attentiv e when us ing the s nowthr ower , and stay alert for holes in the terr ain and other hidden hazar ds. S Make s ure the rot or will spin fr eely before attac hing the snow throw er to the pow er- head. S If the rotor wi ll not rotate freely due to froz en ice, thaw the unit before thor oughly before attempting to operate under power.

11 Genuine P oulan or Poulan P RO bar and chain oil is rec ommended to protect y our unit against ex ces s iv e wear from heat and fric- tion. Poulan or Poulan P RO oil r es ists high temperature thinning. If Poulan or Poulan PRO bar and c hain oil is not available, use a good grade SAE 30 oil.

13 PRUNING WAR NI N G: B e alert for and guard agains t ki ck bac k . Do not a llow the mov ing c hain to contac t any other br anc hes or objec ts at the nos e of the guide bar when pruning. Al - lowing s uc h c ont ac t c an res ult in s erious injury.
14 S Operat e the engine at full t hrottle. S Hold the tr immer head parallel to and abov e the gras sy area. S T ap the bottom of the trimmer head li ghtly on the groun d one time. Appr oximate ly 2 inc hes (5 c m) of line w ill be adv anc ed wit h eac h tap .
15 MAINT ENANCE WAR NI N G: D is connec t the spark plug before perfor ming maintenance exc ept for car buretor adjus tments. HE LPFUL T IP IMP OR T A NT : Hav e all repairs other than the rec - ommended maintenance desc ribed in the instr uction manual performed by an authoriz ed ser vic e dealer.
16 1. C lean the c ov er and the ar ea around it to keep dir t from falling into the c arburet or chamber w hen the cov er i s remov ed. 2. R emov e parts by pres s ing button to re- lease air f ilter c over.
17 TO REPLACE CHAI N: 1. Mov e O N/O FF s witc h to the OFF pos ition and disc onnec t spar k plug. 2. R emov e bar c lamp nut. 3. R emov e bar clamp. 4. Turn adjus ting scr ew by hand count er- cl ock wis e unt il adjus ting pin just touches the stop.
18 CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT WAR NI N G: K eep others away w hen making idle s peed adjust ments. The c hain will be mov ing during most of this proc edur e. Wear your protec tiv e equipment and obs erv e all saf ety pr ecaut ions. After mak ing adjust- ments, the c hain must not mov e at idle speed.
