4 REFR IGERATOR INSTALLATION Unpac king Removin g packaging materials ■ Remove tape and glue residue fr om surfaces before turn i ng on the refrigerator . Rub a small amount of liquid dish so ap over th e adhesive with y our fingers. Wipe with warm water and dry .
5 Electr ic al Requirements Befo re you mo ve your r efrigera tor into it s final l ocation, it is important to make su r e you h av e the pr op er electrical connection : Recommended gr ounding method A 115 V o lt, 60 Hz., AC only 15 or 20 a mpere fuse d, grounde d electrica l supply is required.
6 Door Rem o v al TOOLS NE EDED: ¹⁄₄ in., ¹⁄₂ in., a nd ⁵⁄₁₆ in. hex-he ad socket wr e n ches, a flat-head s crewdriver a nd a Phillips scr ewdriver . IMPORT AN T : Before you begin, tu rn the r e fri gera t or control OFF , unp l u g refrigerator or disconnect power .
7 Handle Removal (optional) 1. Apply firm pressure with your han d on the face of trim. Slide top t rim up a nd bott om trim down away from hand le. Lift trim pieces off shoulder screws (s ee Graphic 1). NOTE : Some models include accent pieces between the handle and the han dle trim.
8 Door Closin g Y our refrigerator has tw o fr ont adj ustable rollers — one on the right and one on the l eft. If your refrigerator seems unstead y or if you want the doors to close more easily , adjust t he r ef rigerator's tilt us ing the instruction s below: 1.
9 W ater S ystem Preparati on (on some models) Please read before usin g the water system. Immediately af ter installation, follow the steps belo w to make sure that the wa ter system is properly cle aned. 1. Open the freezer door and tur n off the ice ma k e r by l i f ting up the wire shutoff arm as shown.
10 Using the Con tr ols Rotary Contro ls (on some models) For your convenience, your r efrig erator controls ar e preset at th e factory . Whe n i n s talling your refrigerator , make sure that the controls are stil l pr e set to the “ mid-sett ings ” as shown .
11 Some mod els dispens e both cube d and crushed ice. Before dispen sing ice, select whi ch type of ice you prefer . The but ton controls are designed fo r ea sy use and cleanin g. ■ For cubed ice, press t h e CUB E button until the red indicat or appears in th e window above the CUBE butt on.
12 W ater Filtra tion System (on some models) The base grille water filter status light (on some mode ls) The wate r filter status light will help you know when to change your water fil ter cartridge. The ligh t is located at the top of the refrigerator compartment.
13 Ice Mak er and Storage Bin/Buck et (on some models - Accessor y) T o turn the ice maker on/of f: The on/off switch for the ice maker is a wire shutoff arm located on the side of the ice maker . 1. T o tur n th e ice maker on, simply lower the wire s hutoff arm.
14 Shelve s and Shelf Frame s T o remove and replac e a shelf/frame: 1. Remove the s helf/frame by tilt ing it up at the f r ont and l ifting it out of the shelf supports. 2. Replace th e shelf/frame by guiding th e r ear sh elf hooks into the shelf sup p ort s.
15 T o s tore vegetables: Set the control to VEG (al l the way to the left) to st ore vegetables at thei r opti mal storage temperatu r es (which need to be warmer than those for meat). IMPORT AN T : If fo od start s to fr eeze, move th e contr ol to the left (less col d).
16 Free zer Bask et or Bin (plastic bin on some models) The freezer basket or b in can be used to store bags of fr ozen fruits and ve getables that may slid e of f freezer shel ves. T o remove and replac e th e f r eeze r baske t or bin: 1. Remo ve basket or bin by sl iding it o ut to the st op.

19 ■ Is the refrigerator not cooling? For models with digita l controls, tur n the unit OFF then ON again to r es et. See the “ Setti ng or Usin g the Co ntrols ” s ection. If this does not correct the problem, call for service. The lights do not wo rk ■ Is the power supply cor d unplugged? Plug into a gr ounded 3 prong ou tl et .
20 The ice d ispenser will not opera t e pr operly ■ Is the fr eezer door closed completely? Push the door firmly shut. I f it will not s hut all the way , see “ The doors will not close completel y ” later in this secti on.
21 ■ Has a larg e amount of food just been added to the ref r igerator or fr eezer? Adding a lar ge amount of food warms the refrigerator . It can take sev eral hours for the r efriger ator to retu r n to the n ormal temper atur e.
